I spent a very peaceful few hours in my campervan here. Lovely picnic viewing spot for surfers and paddle boarders. Unfortunately there seemed to be a strong smell of sewage probably coming from a large outlet hatch? There are adequate bins obviously to encourage the responsible disposal of litter by visitors to the spot. The friendly bin men were emptying the bins stated for "VISITORS USE ONLY" as I arrived however within half an hour of their departure a well dressed woman pulled into the car park got out of her large posh car, took a full black bin bag from the boot and deposited it in the freshly emptied bin before then driving off?! There is no overnight camping at this spot presumably because it is so close to the NC500. The bad press and consequently reputaion campervanners campers and motorhomers get with complaints from local residents should be vetted and investigated. The bin facilities at this site are to keep this local beauty spot clean and litter free something that will be difficult to do if residents keep filling the bins with household rubbish...wish I'd taken her car reg now to report to the council. On a walk around the bay I picked up a large disposable bbq that had been left where a group of watersport enthusiasts' cars had been parked and I disposed of it in that bin! Toilet facilities would be an idea too to improve this location. An older man who had his deck chair set out at his car left his lady partner and walked over to a nearby tree to relieve himself, he hadn't realised that it was in full view of my dining window in my campervan, his lady partner pointed this out to him on return to his seat, they soon departed after this. Within half an hour a young boy did the same in full view of the carpark patrons!! All of these people were from cars and perhaps local to the area as they certainly seemed familiar with that picnic/carparking spot. Just hope that the wider community get the message that it is not campervans and the like spoiling the country's beauty spots rather the local...
