Lakeland Maze/Reines Hall - Caravanning
Access
We traveled from Halifax and took the M62/M61/M6/A590/A65. It’s important if coming North that you approach the site from the East via the A65 (M6 Jon 36) From the A65 the access road to the site is pretty much a single track for a mile until you get to the site. There are passing places for traffic but meet another caravan and it could be tricky. Although we went on a bank holiday weekend when the park was busy and we only met a couple of cars who made way for us.
Location
The site is part of the Lakeland Maze Farm Park. We spent the £30 family ticket (2+2) which allowed us access for our entire stay (4 nights). The farm park includes a playground, inflatables, go karts, tractor ride and animal barns. It’s good value. The newest main town is Kendal, just 10min drive away. A pleasant town with a nice river running through. It’s also just 20 mins to Bowness/Windermere with multiple attractions. There are also National Trist sites nearby.
Pitch
The pitch price of £25 p/n included EHU. The pitch was gravel with adjacent grass section. The pitches vary in how level they are. Pitch 5 was tight in size and we had jockey wheel at full extension to get close to level. There is a grass field as well for kids to run around in. The Drinking water, waste water and elsan point are behind a wall behind the pitches so close by, but the walkway between pitch 2 and 3 could be annoying.
Facilities
The toilet block is part of the Visitor Attraction but still only a minutes walk away. There is a male, female and accessible facility which includes the only shower. This is shared with visitors in opening hours. The only complaint was the complete failure of the toilet to flush anything away, tissue of otherwise! There was no internet for the pitches, but the farm has free WiFi when in there. The 4G mobile signal for us using EE was good and never had a slow moment.
There is no bar on site, but food is available as part of the visitor at ration during opening hours.
Supporting information
Staff were friendly and helpful on arrival and during the stay.
Conclusion
Pitch 5 was a bit of a faff. Not a great outlook and a bit tight to get the van in. However, saying that we had a terrific time. Our two girls got on great with the three kids in the next door van. A couple of hours at the farm park, dinner and then out for adventure in The Lakes. I even slept for 10 hours one night I was so chilled. We would certainly recommend and will certainly be...

COME ON GUYS, A FEW SUN BROLLIES WONT BREAK THE BANK! Still a fabulous day out, but take your own chairs and brolly on a warm day.
What a lovely day we had here. My daughter and 2 grandchildren age 5 and 1yrs spent an afternoon here. Things for everyone to do. My particular favourite was the tractor ride, which had a speaker telling us all about the history and current running of the working farm. Pointing out landmarks as it travelled up and around a field. Chickens roaming freely in the bottom of the field and eggs for sale at the gate. The Maze was fab too. The Maize at about 4ft in height, so in a month or so time will be too high to look over ( more challenging!) Small route for children which takes half an hour, collecting stamps on a card. The adult one can take 2 hrs to complete!! A lovely play area with trampolines, go carts, swings and slides. Picnic tables. Walks around the play area, where there are sheep and ponies and donkeys. A petting area indoors with rabbits etc and goats, llamas, pigs to feed. There is a cafe with indoor soft play, that serves hot food and ice cream. Got to say, wasnt totally impressed with the food, mainly because it was expensive and the fries we ordered contained burnt fries from previous frys, which wasn't necessary. A little more care on presentation, so would recommend you take a picnic. The ice creams looked amazing. On our way out, we noticed an area for toddlers to 'ride on' play. Will definitely recommend this place and will go back..loads to do. I did notice there was no where to shade from the sun, so maybe some sun brollies over the benches would be good, so keep this in mind when you go.. all in all a...
Read moreWe went here for the first time after searching for somewhere to take my nieces and nephews in the summer holidays. We chose the perfect day for it and it was a beautifully sunny day (if a bit too hot 🥵). There is so much to do for all ages; my nieces & nephews are 13, 11, 8 & 6, and they all thoroughly enjoyed the day! There are a lot of different animals, farm and pets, which can be stroked and (some) can be fed with feed bought from the shop/entrance at £1.50 a bag. They have meet the animals sessions throughout the day, too, where you can get to know the animals a little more. We had ice creams before going to the outdoor area, and they were fairly averagely priced at £2.75 for a scoop of lakes ice cream; well worth it on such a hot day! Everywhere is pretty much cashless apart from the hut in the outdoor area, which is cash. There is so much to do in the outdoor area; pedal carts, big bouncy inflatables, slides, basketball, football, 2 huge slides, and the best thing, in my opinion, the water wars activity! It was quite busy but it was a hot day so it was understandable. The kids enjoyed this and the slides the most. We chose not to do the maize maze, but do note that the big maze can take up to 2 hours to complete; there is a small one that takes around 15 minutes to complete. The only thing I would say was a bit of a disappointment was the price of some cold drinks...£2.40/£2.60 for a 500ml bottle of fizzy drink... a bit ridiculous in my opinion. There is a cafe and an indoor play area, but we didn't use these. There is a decent gift shop on the way out with not too bad pricing! Although we enjoyed it, I'm not sure we'd be back in a hurry as it was almost a 4 hour round...
