We finally got married in October 2022 after looking at a number of venues, we were instantly sold by how beautiful and intimate the venue was, especially the ceremony room and snug.
We found the staff to be extremely accommodating and attentive throughout the planning process and the day itself, which put our minds at ease.
The day went smoothly and all our guests were happy - the bar and waiting staff were great as they didnāt have to wait too long for drinks or the wedding breakfast. We opted for the fire truck pizzas for the evening meal which went down a treat with our guests and it was also great for pictures too.
There was lots of car parking for guests, and the surroundings itself were nice for pictures, socialising etc.
The only drawback I would say is the following day could have been better organised ā we were told to collect our belongings before 10am due to Larkspur having another wedding which is understandable. However, when we arrived we had to wait a while as no one was there to let us in. We then found our belongings had been moved by the night staff from the Bridal prep room to the front entrance in a not really particular helpful way!
Annoyingly, our wedding cake couldnāt be found in the fridge and we couldnāt wait much longer as we had to see our guests back at the hotel and go on our honeymoon straight after. James was great though as he arranged to drop off the cake to our parents when the day staff arrived and they found the cake.
All in all, I would definitely recommend Larkspur Lodge due to having great wedding co-ordinators that were always on hand to help and the beautiful venue itself!
Iām sure weāll be back for a friendās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeware of taxi scam, I have emailed the venue and given them opportunity to respond which they have failed to do, I have also seen further reviews regarding the same issue.
At the end of my friend's wedding, we required a taxi to return to our hotel. We had been informed earlier in the day that Larkspur Lodge could arrange taxis for guests, and that there was a discounted rate available through the venue. As we were preparing to book an Uber, a member of your security team approached us and advised that he could order a taxi on our behalf, reiterating that the venue had a discount with a local taxi firm. As he was acting as a representative of Larkspur Lodge, we trusted this offer.
Shortly after, a taxi arrived. The security guard who had arranged it was seen chatting outside with another, younger member of your security team, both clearly familiar with the driver. As we got into the vehicle, the guard made a comment in another language to the driver, followed by a remark in English: "I couldn't send you any more, everyone drove, they all came in their own cars." This suggested to us that this may be a regular arrangement.
We were driven a very short distance, just six minutes with no traffic, to the Cottons Hotel and Spa. On arrival, we were charged £15 for the journey, which is more than double what an Uber would have cost at that time (around £6). This felt incredibly exploitative, particularly when we were under the impression that this was a trusted, discounted service facilitated through the venue.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a lovely wedding venue and we had a wonderful day celebrating with the bride and groom. However 4 stars given because there are a few things that need improvement 1/ we were told by a member of staff before entering the wedding ceremony room to be careful of the candles not realising she meant real candles in tall glass jars with water on the floor where people were walking to their seats. Guests were concentrating on getting to the correct seat in a poorly lit room and no one realised she meant candles in glass situated on the floor on the way to the seats! So someone walked into one smashing the glass ( according to another guest the same thing happened at a previous wedding she had been to). Other candles in these jars were placed right next to the chairs which were certainly a fire hazard/health & safety issue. This needs rethinking to make it safe for guests attending eg dont use glass and real candles or place them off the floor where people cant knock them over! 2/ one of the signature drinks was an Aperol spritz but they didn't have any fresh orange garnish which should always be served with this cocktail especially as it was pictured like this on the bar. 3/ staff - the woman who seemed to be in charge wasn't the friendliest. The guy outside after the sparklers at dusk told people the road was closed immediately afterwards and seemed to enjoy his authority then and during the rest of the evening. He should have treated the guests with a little bit of decorum. The later bar man needed to...
