I recently attended a wedding at Leigh Court and was disappointed with the service provided. Despite the amazing venue, the service was the worst I've ever experienced. The waiters were slow and seemed to be moving at a snail's pace. Even though there were only 100 guests, the staff couldn't cope with the demand. The appetisers were nice (I think), but they were brought out one plate at a time, so I hardly anyone got to taste anything. The waiters were focused on one area, they didn't move around the room. Which meant only a select few got to have them.
When it came to the main course, they decided to serve the tables by number order. Unfortunately, my table was number eight, so by the time the food arrived, other tables had already moved on to the next course. Table one had finished and tables seven to eleven were still waiting for their food. The food was coming to the tables cold, and when I asked for a dish that other tables had, I was fobbed off. I spoke to the manager, who apologized, but nothing seemed to change.
Overall, despite the beautiful venue, the service at Leigh Court needs significant improvement. I recommend considering other venues in the future as this ruined the whole event for myself and the family. I feel really sorry for the bride and groom who must have spent a small fortune on this just to have guests leaving with a...
Read moreWe have just left the Lumosphere exhibit after having a wonderful festive time with the family and encountering the lovely friendly staff that work for the Lumosphere. However after the exhibit we thought we would quickly take a family photo (my 60+ year old parents, me, my husband, my sister and her fiancé) outside the main building as it looked so pretty lit up. We were met by 2 very rude staff, who essentially made us out to be criminals because we tried to snap a family photo outside a heritage building. The first man came from inside the building and questioned as to why we were looking at the building… We were obviously doing this because we had just come from the exhibit and it looked pretty as there is a massive Christmas tree in the window. After this another man came out and told us we can’t wander around the grounds, which we clearly weren’t trying to do. I’m quite frankly appalled and extremely put off from returning. My sister was actually looking at Leigh Court to be her wedding venue. The experience we had this evening means she has absolutely taken this venue off her list. It costs nothing to be friendly and I would not have left a review if the staff had politely asked us to leave. What a way to ruin a lovely...
Read moreI had a work event here recently. Its a beautiful building and it has lovely grounds. All members of staff I interacted with were extremely welcoming and professional. 5 stars all day for the venue. I do have 3 little 'niggles' that could prehaps improve the experience. The points below in no way takes away from the great experience I had.
The traffic calming measures on the entrance drive (speed bumps) need improvement. They are very hard on the suspension. They need more rounded edges.
Additional WC facilities. The building is listed and I understand that, but there must be additional toilets elsewhere that can be used for big crowds.
Its a beautiful building, great floors and ceiling but the walls seem a bit bare. Some wall handings or paintings in the main rooms would add some real character (even if they are just...
