This is going to sound a bad review, but I can only go with our experience. It was a 45 minute drive for us to get here, it’s quite a scenic drive and easily found Potters World. We paid our £4 each , which is great value, and did a quick tour round the zoo. Lots of the animals weren’t easy to see, or not out their hutches (hence quick tour) even at feeding time. We decided to have a breakfast and another tour, hoping to see more of the animals (Owls in particular, my Granddaughters favourite) So, we ordered our drinks, and 1 was missing, waited for the drink and then there was a power cut. Ok, it’s beyond their control, but we then waited 25 minutes to be told we need to give card details to pay for the drinks. I paid cash, and left my phone number. We didn’t get round the zoo again, left and went elsewhere (The Dairy Barn) for breakfast. People should have been kept informed of what was happening, and to be honest, a free entry ticket should have been issued. Edit Thanks for your reply, but there’s a couple of things that need putting right, as you’ve used the Jedi mind trick to make my review look “harsh” We waited a good 15 minutes for the missing drink, before the electric went off. We were then told (25mins after the power went off) that everything was off, nothing was mentioned about sandwiches, or anything else to eat or drink. We were told to pay for what we had, and everyone was leaving. IF we had been told the zoo was still open, we would have had another look, but we did have a 3 year old that was hungry. £4 entry fee is fantastic, but for 10 minutes, not really. Half my pics were on the free bit. We just had a bad day in Durham, trying to give our granddaughter a birthday treat. I’m not having a dig about the power cut, these things happen, I’m having a dig about how poorly it...
Read moreVisited with my child (f8). Entrance was via the gift shop which was packed full of lots of interesting gifts so took us a good while to get through as so much to see! Price wise, I would say a bit pricier than other places we’ve been. Some gifts were really lovely and worth the price but I found certain bits (especially within the animal section) to be a bit cheap looking.
Loved looking at the aquariums, some lovely fish to see and buy. The animal section was great, especially as only 10 minutes down the road with a reasonable entry fee (£4pp). Some beautifully coloured ducks, very large tortoise, gigantic snakes and more… all looked very well cared for and loved.
Large indoor play section, does say 0-5 but some flexibility (see attached photo). Smaller outdoor play area but very adequate. Indoor picnic area with chairs and tables.
We spent a good couple of hours there. Didn’t really venture round into the garden centre section or into the cafe so will be back.
Please note that with the exception of the gift shop and cafe, all the indoor sections are greenhouses. We visited when it was bright and sunny with a 19 degree Celsius outdoor temp… to say it was warm is a slight understatement. The brightness of the sun also made it hard to see into the animal enclosures without pressing you face to the glass. My advice would be to go on a cooler, cloudier, even rainier day to get the best experience.
Ample parking. Garden centre is free entry. See a signpost for toilets but...
Read moreOur first time visiting Potters World today and it won't be our last! Still cant believe how cheap it was with so much on offer. Enjoyable day for both adults and children! 😊
We loved walking around seeing all the animals. Loved the descriptions with their name's as it also gave a little insight into their personalities 😊 such a lovely touch. A particular highlight was the tortoise walking around. He was alot quicker than we thought he would be!!
The play areas are very well thought out with both indoor and outdoor areas with plenty of toys/activities to keep little ones entertained!
We also went to the restaurant. Portions were good and reasonably priced. May be worth trying to prebook a table as it was very busy (can't expect nothing else for a Saturday) but we were given a buzzer and happily walked around while we waited for a table. Which didn't actually take too long. There is also a deli/take away option for anyone not wanting to sit in the restaurant. Also for children in the play area there is a picnic area where you can go to eat any food purchased from the centre
Thanks for a...
