Turret 41a lies about 1 kilometre to the east of Cawfields Quarry and Milecastle 42. This is a fine stretch of Wall with open views. According to Pevsner et al "The Buildings of England, Northumberland", the low walls of the turret that we see now were all that was left after demolition in the early C3. "The recess in the S face was walled and the broad wing walls on either side were reduced. The original internal N face of the turret is visible in the core material.
