Had a week in the Barn retreat for my girlfriends 21st Birthday.
Upon arrival the three of us (myself, my girlfriend and pretzel the dog) were warmly welcomed by Deb who showed us around the luxurious Barn. We were given plenty in the welcome pack, bread, milk, eggs, tea bags, coffee, sugar and a toblarone. Deb left us to settle in and told us just to pop next door if we had any questions or had any trouble. But we can honestly say we hardly seen anyone around the place and everything was perfect. Peace and tranquility!
The owners went the extra mile with festive decorations in the barn, this really set it off!! The barn was done to an extremely high standard, much much more than I expected. From the heated floors to the cooking equipment. I particularly enjoyed using the double cooker, this would be great for a large family who enjoy cooking.
There was a log burner and plenty of wood to make the Barn warm and cosy in the evenings whilst we watched tv or played some of the board games provided. Connect 4 was my favourite! The bed was upstairs where there was carpet on the floors and cupboards for our clothes.
There was a walk in shower that steps down into the ground and a lovely bath, you really could not ask for anymore!
Just outside, in the private garden there is a hot tub and BBQ, we spent many hours relaxing in the hot tub relaxing and unwinding after a day of exploring.
The surrounding area is lush green grass, plenty of room for Pretzel to run around or for a game of rounders. Children would love a game of hide and seek here!
A flat 15 minute walk past farmland and a church see you to a local dog friendly pub, The Kings Head. The food there was to die for and was the best meal we had out all week! The people were very friendly and we even enjoyed a game of pool. Just around the corner is a Tesco where you can get any extras but we didn’t really use this as it was cheaper to go into town and get our snacks and drinks.
A 15 minute drive brought us to the beach of Great Yarmouth. This is also a dog friendly place with plenty to do. We spent some time in one an arcade where we won a couple of prizes! We also had a walk along the pier and one of the beautiful conservation areas. This place must really be bustling during the summer season!
Such a clean and tidy place, we were left wanting for nothing. Left feeling relaxed and recharged. We will definitely be returning, maybe next time to enjoy some summer sun.
Thank you Swallow Park you...
Read moreWe stayed in the deluxe safari tent. Absolutely everything was supplied. On arrival we found fresh bread, milk, eggs, tea and coffee. A lovely touch were the fresh flowers on the table. The tent had a woodburner and the logs and firelighters supplied were more than enough for our stay. There was a bath and a large walk in shower. The bedroom was well furnished with wardrobe and dressing table and a very comfy bed. the towels and bed linen were spotless. Even had hot water bottles in case it got chilly. Outside was a hot tub but we didn't use it as that was extra. Also outside was a fire pit and a charcoal barbecue with a huge bag of charcoal. We were blessed with glorious sunshine and spent the evenings sitting on the veranda. Baskets filled with pansies adorned the veranda entrance to the tent. The owners have thought of absolutely everything to make sure you have a great glamping experience. If you are looking for things to do, a trip on the broads is well worth it. Great Yarmouth is much what you would expect...amusement arcades etc, but if you like the beach then go to Winterton-on-Sea. Miles of sand backed by dunes and not crowded. Parking is easy in the large grassy car park above the dunes. There is just one cafe serving great food. We were lucky enough to spot 2 seals very close to the beach. Just one thing..don't rely on your phone for the time...take a watch. The phone seems to pick up a different time zone on the beach which resulted in us hurrying back to the car and hour early. We had a great time with fabulous weather and will most certainly go back to Swallow Park and...
Read moreA fantastic glamping experience. We booking Sitting Sam for four nights for a midweek break and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The site is tranquil and peaceful with 7 other units also sharing the same areas. Our tipi came fully equipped with a double bed, dresser and bedside tables, lamp and power points. There was also a lovely little log burner for the colder nights however it was not needed in the first week of June ☀️ the decking for the Tipi had a wonderful wood fired hot tub, picnic bench and two comfortable wooden outdoor rocking chairs. A small kitchenette was to the back which was furnished with all the essentials, crockery and cutlery, a gas hob, grill and oven and running hot/cold water for washing up. A small fridge with icebox was perfect for keeping our drinks cold. Adjacent to the kitchen was a toilet and shower room with running hot/cold water. All towels were provided. We opted for a charcoal BBQ with all the charcoal and fire lights provided, and we enjoyed cooking our evening dinners atop hot coals. The wood fired hot tub took a couple of hours to heat up and was delightful for relaxing into the late evening with a glass of wine of Gin & Tonic. The site was very close to local facilities with two supermarkets easily reached in 10-minutes. Everyone we came across was friendly and helpful and huge thanks to Colleen for her prestay courtesy call and friendly helpful service throughout our stay. We loved our time at Swallow Park and will...
