My 5 year old and I had an absolutely fascinating time visiting the museum yesterday. We arrived just in time for the guided tour which was really interesting. My son was captivated listening to the history and explanation of how each exhibit worked. He loved watching them being demonstrated as well. He is really interested in how things work anyway, particularly mills and pumps. Visiting the Wind Energy Museum has really sparked his imagination though. He enjoyed testing the turbines with different numbers of blades to see the impact on the amount of power generated.
Debra was extremely knowledgeable and gave a very interesting talk. She was good at engaging with the children there and answering questions.

Read moreThis is a lovely, informative, voluntary run museum, hosting a great collection of wind turbines/pumps, that could do with more people knowing about it! We were met by a very enthusiastic volunteer, who guided us round. It's a little off the beaten track, although the signs led us straight there. £5 for adults, £3.50 for children. You can walk to Thurne Mill from the wind museum, making for a lovely day. They allow dogs in too, as most of it is outside, and a comfy hut/conservatory is a great place to eat one of the cakes or partake in afternoon...
