We had heard many good reports locally, about The Himalayan Garden. So last minute, we decided to make a visit. The Garden is not difficult to find as it is well signposted. You must drive with extreme caution once you leave the main road. The route from the main road is single track with passing places. The road is wide enough as single track roads go, but numerous bends and hills do warrant a careful approach. Parking is plentiful and free. The site is cash free, including entrance fee. We really didn't know what to expect of the garden. The map we were given soon details the layout. We spent two enjoyable hours wandering around the gardens. Be warned, it is by no means flat and in places is quite challenging. There are plenty of seats dotted around the site which compensates for the hills. There always seems to be somewhere to rest. Much of the garden is well established, however evidence of fresh planting is dotted around the site. The sculptings are also dotted around the site. It is a varied show of different styles and concepts. The site is very well kept and litter free. The cafe has a varied menu of ciabattas, sandwiches etc. Baked potatoes were off the list today as someone had burnt them in the oven. At least they are freshly prepared. The prices are a bit higher than other sites we have visited. The meals were however, hot and plentiful. The toilets were immaculate. We had a lovely visit. It certainly helped us get our steps in. We will no doubt...

I visited in mid April and the only way to describe this garden is magnificent. Friendly staff, a good cafe and spotless toilets . The prices of the plants for sale were reasonable too . The magnolia’s were in bloom and I’ve never seen so many varieties from delicate star types to those with enormous flowers bigger than my hand . The sculptures are fascinating and are tucked away by tiny streams and on islands in the lake as well as in the open areas . I was glad of finding somewhere to get a drink and a cake at the horse trailer at the bottom and I could see another toilet was available. These days I struggle to walk more than half an hour due to back pain caused by an accident but I managed an hour taking rests on the abundance of seating provided . These days return journey from the valley was either up an awful lot of steps or the road, I chose the road which again offered seats to rest . If I could make one suggestion for improvement it would be to perhaps have an electric golf cart type vehicle you could pay to get up or down. I don’t think it needs to go further than perhaps the horse trailer so wouldn’t disturb the peace . I will definitely return either in Autumn or next Spring, this garden...

A little gem well worth visiting. Very reasonably priced. Helpful friendly staff. A beautiful location that provides hours of exploration around the many paths that cross the gardens. The gardens are set in and around a steep sided valley and are only accessible by some quite steep paths. Very enjoyable wandering around discovering the many sculptures and watching the wildlife in the gardens. Facilities are good although we didn’t use the main cafe but had coffee and sweet snacks from the little caravan in the valley bottom. Both were very good and we were pleased to see the coffee being served in compostable cups. Something other venues should be doing at the moment. The wide grassy area by the caravan is supplied with a small number of picnic tables and in the warm spring sunshine we had on our visit was a lovely spot to enjoy our coffee and the surroundings. We even enjoyed negotiating the slightly eccentric and somewhat confusing one way system which is in place at the moment. Definitely a place that will be getting a return visit and we will bring our dogs, on leads,...

I spent a lovely day here with my son's partner who suggested visiting as part of my birthday celebrations. I'm so glad she did, we loved every minute here. So much space, so many amazing sculptures to see, in the most beautiful setting. I was particularly impressed with the inspiring Himalayan Poppies installation. So many inspiring sights and sounds. The staff were delightful, and the sun decided to shine! 😊 All in all a wonderful experience. I'll be back!

Has to be one of the finest gardens in the country. It is, however, very large and being Hymalayan, there are steps; flights of steps and many of them. Once at the valley floor things are much easier; some families managed baby buggies but it seemed to me you'd need fit assistants. There are sculptures all over and some seemed almost affordable! Others were astonishing. In Spring the rhododendrons would surely be stunning but I visited in August and they'd all finished blooming. The Hymalayan poppy artwork was amazing. Reminded me of our remembrance poppies flow at The Tower of London, albeit on a smaller scale. N.B. There were road works near Masham, causing closures so access, already on twisting country lanes was exacerbated. Final approach is along a narrow road with passing places. The café was equally brilliant. I thought I'd ordered a quick Cumberland sausage buttie but received a full meal, some of which proved too much. I almost never leave food. Large car park. I will return. They like you to book on line but I failed to. This seemed to cause no problem.
