A fabulous beach that has one side that is always dog friendly. It's long and the golden sand stretches all the way along it without hardly any stones or rocks. For anyone with mobility problems it is difficult as there is a rise up and over the sand, where the sand is so soft you sink in it, so walking can be hard work but the view once over is worth it. The reason for only 3 stars is that there is a car park which is expensive, £3.30 or £3.35 if paying direct on your phone is the minimum payment even if you're only there an hour. There are toilets in the car park but these were not very clean and that's it. This is a shame as Harlech could really make more of the stunning beach and have a cafe there and make parking charges less to encourage people to go and thus would bring some much needed income in. Only 5 minutes drive away is a another beach, only £1 to park and a cafe there. The beach isn't as nice as it's very rocky but there is a nice sandy stretch when the sea is out and so we went here instead even though we were staying in Harlech. Such a pity as the beach is such that it would attract people from...
Read moreBeautiful long, sandy beach with stunning views of the Llyn Peninsula and the Snowdon range. The car park has toilets and is pay and display (pay using your phone if you don't have change because you will get a parking fine) . The beach is accessed via a 5-10 minute walk/stroll along a path and then soft sand up and over through the sand dunes. For families with very young children I would recommend nearby Llandanwg beach which is easier to access and has both toilets and a good cafe. Harlech beach is perfect for families with active children - football, kite flying, cricket, running around in the sand dunes and of course the sea. Adults - football, cricket, kite flying, running around in the sand dunes and of course the sea. Fab for dog walkers - the section immediately in front of the path is dog free April to October but with 4 miles of beach this isn't a problem. Its a...
Read moreI just love this long beach where you can lose yourself for miles, North or South. I am fortunate enough to live in the area and been here for 40 years. It's a a real shame that dog walkers (just a few) don't clean up after their animals, letting them do their business in the grass verges etc....on the actual footpath to the beach it's not nice is it, so please be courteous and keep it clean, it really spoils the whole experience for others. The subject also applies in particular to another footpath, past the lower Harlech College where just recently, where just lately for some reason, is becoming horrendous with dog muck and has really spoilt the enjoyment of chilling out on the walk to and on the beach area itself Please keep it clean guys, and just have a little thought and respect for others, it's just not on...
