Really enjoyed a trip to this quiet little-known oasis of tranquility beyond Swindon's busy arterial Thamesdown Drive. The Country Park's well maintained, litter-free & easily accessible- with ample parking spaces. It features a beautiful lake with numerous islands & assorted wildfowl...+ wooden stages for anglers. Different paths lead to a) footbridges over the attractive River Ray, b) the terminus of the Swindon to Cricklade Railway c) a country road leading to Purton (a scenic Wiltshire town of historical interest). Mouldon Hill's equally inviting for walking, picnicking, cycling & spotting types of birds & butterflies....

Been many years since walked here, my dogs and i had a super walk around the fields and lake, wasn't very busy. The woodlands have grown , thinking i could remember way, i boldly entered the woods, my dogs having not been before darting here n there, so many new smells to explore. After 50 mins walking i had to admit i was lost, it was like a maze in there, was so relieved when a couple ladies walking a group of dogs appeared and put me on right path out. Big thanks to them. Maybe a few markers put up would be very helpful. Will definitely be returning to enjoy this place again...... with a ball of...

We had a nice walk around this lake in the spring sunshine...The pathway's are all wide and level making it easy access for everyone...As with all parks with water it attracts lots of wildlife, there was plenty to be seen on our walk, even saw a Cormorant pearched on a post in the lake..There are lots of benches around to relax on and you can fish here if you are s member of the Angling club.. Overall a nice little place to visit for a lovely walk... There is plenty of onsite free parking, with easy access from Thamesdown Drive in West...

There is nothing here other than a lake and a car park but it is very peaceful and the walk round the lake is enjoyable. There are a number of Geocaches around here. The walk along the canal is also enjoyable and it is nice to be able to point out the canal and the old railway to children. There is a halt that marks the southern end of the Swindon to Cricklade steam railway. Hopefully at some time in the future they will be building a full station here.
