What an amazing hidden little gem! After a 15min drive from Llandudno through some beautiful countryside we arrived at the Conwy Water Centre we called in on spec to the Pancake House which is by the entrance to the gardens (that deserves its own review in itself) A friendly lady called Ann welcomed us & showed us to our table and her staff were just so friendly; nothing was too much trouble. The 1st thing I noticed was just how immaculately clean it was. Service was super-efficient & our waitress most patiently explained nearly all the menu to the in- law. With over 65 choices of pancakes this took a few minutes. Food choices made; our drinks arrived within 5 mins. Capaccino and 2 Lattes, all super-hot, which makes a change. Not long after the pancakes made to order arrived, these were just wonderfully fresh and so moreish. Disabled access, highchairs & outdoor tables for those with dogs, they sure have everyone catered for. We went mid-week, and it was busy, so I would recommend booking in advance. After our meal we then walked into the aquatic centre to mooch around looking at a huge variety of both outdoor & indoor fish. There's also a nature walk where you can look at the otters and two fishing lakes there. Having just 'nipped' out for some fish food, turned out to be 3 hours of a really enjoyable experience. I would recommend this place to anyone as there's something...
Read moreI came across the Dutch Pancake House after climbing Snowden and burning almost 2000 kcals. I thought, what better way to celebrate than to eat a stack of pancakes and regain all the calories I lost from the hike. So that's exactly what I did.
With a few friends, we reserved a seat in advance (due to Covid restrictions) and ordered 2 pancakes each. With 8 pancakes in total, we had a good spread from the menu. Some chocolate pancakes, lemon and sugar, bacon and maple just to name a few...these guys have a huge variety to pick from.
The pancakes were decent! European style, not the fat american stacks you might be expecting. These were about the size of a plate and topped generously. My only complaint about this place is that the chocolate pancakes weren't the best, even though I would expect them to be the most popular. Instead of using (what tasted like) a cheap chocolate sauce, maybe opt for Nutella or a diced up chocolate bar?
Overall however, the Dutch Pancake House was a real treat and I can't fault the sweet service and quality pancakes they make. Would...
Read moreWe were staying at the local campsite and had decided to visit the Dutch Pancake House. We could only go on the Wednesday as it was closed on Monday and Tuesday. I knew this from the website. What I didn't know is that we had to book a table as this is not mentioned. However, one of our fellow campers told us, so we did ring and book before we got there. After a walk round the water gardens, which was OK considering it was free to get in (you don't get much for free these days) we went for our Pancakes. We were served with our drinks straight away so by the time our pancakes came we had already finished our drinks. Ideally, the drinks should come with the meal, not 20 minutes before it. We all had a large Welsh Beauty which was delicious. I do think that they need to get rid of the stupid booking system though. While we were sat there waiting, there were eight empty tables and yet they were turning people away! However, we will definitely visit there again as we really enjoyed...
