Lovely spot just a few miles out of Whaley Bridge, so an ideal area for a nice walk up to this part of the peak district. From this point (on a nice day) you can see right over to Manchester, but that's on a nice day. So pick your days wisely, because when it rains up there it lashes it down. Nice part of the world, some nice views, but nothing else there so take a...

Great views from the top looking across to Chinley, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Whaley Bridge, Stockport and Manchester. Limited car parking so go early morning weekdays. Although steep to the top, there is an easier incline sweeping clockwise that most people can manage. The gate is a bit of a challenge for those with limited mobility but not...

Dangerous walking! Beware: there's a herd of very frisky bullocks on Eccles Pike. In spite of giving them a wide berth they charged at my husband and me on the steep path down, causing us to fall. This was a nice surprise and so glad I visited. Not the highest of points however it’s location gives the most stunning views of the surrounding areas. Parking is available for about 4/5 cars max, but be careful as the road (more a lane really) is fairly narrow with a few passing places on route. You can walk from the local village though.
