Tucked away in the middle of the Fens but close to Whittlesey and Ramsey, this is a hidden gem.
On arrival we were given a warm welcome and then made a base in one of the little pods before making our way to the little train. They have a couple on the go at once so you don't wait long at all. Each journey takes you around 3 times on a slightly different route each time.
We bought a ticket for their Easter weekend special. For 2 adults and 2 children this cost just £16.26 for a two hour slot. This came with 7 vouchers which can be used against hot drinks, cakes and train rides.
If you don't have enough vouchers left then tea, coffee and hot chocolate are an amazing £1.50 each, same for the great range of homemade cakes. The cakes were lovely. Take a picnic with you as you can't get other food. We ate our picnic watching the trains and just enjoying the relaxed atmosphere.
Every single member of staff we met was warm and friendly. It really is a lovely place and you can tell they love working there.
Perfect way to spend a couple of hours on a...
Read moreFenland light railway is a hidden gem. There are so many good things I could take all year to write them down. The volunteers are what make it so incredible they are so helpful, so friendly and so incredibly kind to give up so much time for others. I've had 4 parties here over the past few years each one has been easy to plan as Chris is quick to respond (despite working full time and this being a hobby) also very accommodating. He never wants to let people down. On the day they have opened early to help and worked tirelessly to ensure everyone stays safe and has fun. All my guests have left very very happy! On their normal running days they are just as fantastic. I'm very partial to the awesome homemade cake and cuppas whist the children go on the train! They have fantastic special events the santa special is well organised and brilliantly executed. If you haven't been go it's fantastic and...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem run by the amazing volunteers. During lockdown it was our safe place to visit. Tickets have to be bought in advance and these are limited which means it’s not crowded when you go. Your session is 2 hours which is plenty of time to have lots of rides. Each family has a pod or table in a covered area so you have your own space. The £10 booking fee is then exchanged for train tickets on arrival. You can choose a drink and /or cake voucher too. The cakes are all homemade and really tasty! Sometimes there is a theme. Halloween and Christmas is extra special. The light railway train ride is fabulous. Our little one loves every second we’re there. The volunteers make your time there very special. We love this place and would...
