This truly is a magnificent and stunning Cave Attraction and one of the best Caves to see in the North of England. Access into the Caves is by guided tour only which lasts for 80 minutes and the tours run throughout the day at 10:30hrs with the first tour and the last tour at 15:00hrs. The other tour times are at 11:00hrs, 12:00hrs, 13:00hrs and 14:00hrs. The tours of the cave are thoroughly informative, engaging and riveting learning how the Caves were formed from the last ice age and also about the interesting different features you see on your journey through the cavern and how they were formed. There are a number of different features and these are The Witch's Finger, The First Waterfall, The Judge's Head, The Squeeze, Arum Lily, The Devil's Tongue, The Face, Battlefield Cavern & The Carrots. The most interesting and intriguing features are The Witch's Fingers, Arum Lily and The Judge's Head as they are exquisite and it's absolutely fascinating and amazing how these feature have formed over thousands of years ago. The Cave is also renowned as the longest showcase in Britain and two of the best features in the Cave are The First Waterfall and The Battlefield Cavern due to the fact seeing a Waterfall underground in a Cave system is a stunning sight but also unique at any showcase you will see in the UK and The Battefield Cavern is a truly vast spectacle of a Cavern and a truly amazing sight and the best view of any vast Cavern in the UK. On the Cave tours you can also learn how the Cave were discovered by Christopher Long in 1923, which is a very interesting story and also a captivating one. There is a cafe selling a variety of food and drink at reasonable prices and also there is a lovely gift shop selling a nice range of souvenirs at reasonable prices. Overall this is a sensational and stunning place to visit and makes for a fascinating and enjoyable day out and is well worth a visit in the...

Happened to see this place signposted from a local town and decided to Google search it.

Immediately planned on a trip there on our homeward drive.

The drive over was lovely and scenic. The centre itself was really nice and has a lovely cafe and gift shop (reasonably priced)

Tours of the caves are at hourly intervals from 10am onwards i believe. Cost £33 for two adults which proved to be worth every penny.

We were given hard hats (optional but very much needed and recommended) and the usual safety briefing by our guide. We had Mark taking us down He was knowledgeable and polite and showed real enthusiasm about the caves.

The caves themselves are spectacular! It's awesome to be able to see geology that is at work all around us so up close and personal. I felt like a kid again.

Made use of my new phone to get some really great photos of the walk.. Which took us 90 mins to walk to the final cavern and back.

We DEFINITELY plan to be back with our kids to do the Dark Walk (an even more exciting experience we are assured)

The whole experience was really really worthwhile and i am really pleased that we stumbled across this fabulous place.

Highly...

You can preorder tickets or buy tickets on site - lots of parking available which is free for customers.

Adele(or adders) was our tour guide today and she was absolutely excellent with her information, vocals and warnings of low ceilings and steps. She was also funny as she was explaining about the carrotite on the ceilings and before that, she asked everyone "what do carrots eat?" Which made everyone chuckle a bit. The cave itself was very beautiful and pretty. The walk wasn't too treacherous, just be warned that you will need to be able to bend lower than 4ft for at least 1-2 minutes continuously, twice. As the ceiling is quite low. For me being 23 stone and overweight, I just about managed it whilst taking breaks when I can stand, so please take this into consideration.

It was £19 per adult and £14 per child which I think is fair and discounted at £54 for 2 adults and 2 kids.

There was also a gift shop with bric-a-brac, magnets/crystals etc.

There is also a cafe serving panini's, sandwiches, baguettes, hot and cold food. Small selection but massive portions!

Overall, great experience...
