The gardens were very nice but we were disappointed with the restaurant. The options were rather limited so we chose a quiche of which only one type was available, you then selected various options of salad on display in a cabinet.

When we started eating we discovered the quiche was so runny it would not stay on the fork. Added to that my chosen salad didn't include one of the two items selected, it was just chopped beetroot and a bit of lettuce, no tomato or cucumber.

A coach trip arriving for lunch in a marquee saw the catering staff carry out several quiches and bowls of salad etc so presumably the rest of us got...

A little disappointed tbh. Have visited before and loved it but this time it was messy, looked a bit uncared for and lacked the hit of glorious colour that this time of year offers. I accept that plants were left to self seed but there were so many past their best flopping over the borders without redeeming architectural seed heads they hid some of those that were quietly trying to grow. Service in the cafe was achingly slow. Granted it was small and the day was a bit wet, but one person on the till and coffee making didn't help. I thought the savoury food good value and quality but the cakes...

The garden is beautifully maintained and the planting is magnificent. You really feel that you need to keep going back to "see what it looks like in full bloom, or in the autumn or when the veg are at there best. Probably a good idea to buy that season ticket! There are always lovely plants to buy once you have been inspired (although you can get to the plants without paying for entry) and there are some really lovely food in the cafe too - thoroughly recommend the lavender shortbread, jacket potato with coronation chicken and the sausage rolls but probably not on the...

Lovely 4 acres of gardens with another nook and clever planting just around the corner. The pigeon house was well worth bending to get into and dont forget the secret garden and its hidden entrance. In August, a lot of the flowers had passed over but still a lot to see and enjoy. I liked the old buildings in this space. The only downside is the traffic noise and machinery noise and the wasps after the cider apples. Great little cafe selling really good food - nice fresh pastry and cakes. It took us about an hour to wander over the gardens.

A really lovely garden. A small museum tells the history of the house and the development of the garden by the current owners. Their passion and vision for what was a barren landscape has transformed it into wonderful garden full of interest at every turn yet maintained areas of tranquility and peace. The cafe provides an excellent array of food the vast majority of which is homemade or home grown. Certainly a place to visit throughout the seasons.
