What a lovely hide this is. I came with my partner last Saturday, and we were not disappointed. Marsh Harriers, buzzards, Red Kite, Heron, Robin, Cootes, Ducks, Oyster Catcher, even a Little Owl…but I was so excited, as we spotted a Kingfisher! What a beauty it was, and first time seeing one. Also had a few Muntjacs walk past the hide. Was only there a couple of hours too. We were very lucky to see all of this in such a short while, and in the background was a field of gorgeous poppies. We will most definitely be returning.😊

Abbey Farm Bird Hide is a fantastic spot for nature enthusiasts! The hide is peaceful and well-maintained, offering excellent views of a wide variety of bird species. It's a great place to relax, observe wildlife, and enjoy the tranquility of nature. Highly recommended for birdwatchers and photographers alike! There is a little owl often seen here. We were lucky this time, but you might be more fortunate :)

Don't really want to tell you how great this place is because I'm being selfish as it's so amazing. We were told a kingfisher and little owl were often seen but not for us. But the amount we did see was amazing as my photos will show. If you do go, have fun and enjoy the experience. I hope the ponies are as entertaining to you too, as they were for us.

Have been to the Abbey Farm open day today. An absolute pleasure, and perfect, sunny weather.

The chalk meadows are full of wildflowers, my passion and delight, from wild parsnip to small scabious, delicate fairy flax to hoary plantain. Not forgetting the delicately scented Lady's bedstraw and flowering grasses, especially my favourite quaking grass.

Sky larks provided a soundtrack, along with many other bird songs, and for those with good hearing, the sounds of grasshoppers and crickets.

Thankyou, the Cross family for allowing me to wander the pathways of your very...
