Have been to the Abbey Farm open day today. An absolute pleasure, and perfect, sunny weather.
The chalk meadows are full of wildflowers, my passion and delight, from wild parsnip to small scabious, delicate fairy flax to hoary plantain. Not forgetting the delicately scented Lady's bedstraw and flowering grasses, especially my favourite quaking grass.
Sky larks provided a soundtrack, along with many other bird songs, and for those with good hearing, the sounds of grasshoppers and crickets.

Marsh Harriers, buzzards, Red Kite, Heron, Robin, Cootes, Ducks, Oyster Catcher, even a Little Owl…but I was so excited, as we spotted a Kingfisher! What a beauty it was, and first time seeing one.
