St Margarets Church or King's Lynn minster is a lovely place . Grade 1 listed and dating back as far as the 12 th century and another place in Norfolk which was established by Herbert de Losinga, Bishop of Norwich . The Margaret in the name being the amazing St Margaret of Antioch who has a very interesting tale to tell sadly martyred at just 15 at the time of the Diocletian Persecitions and is just one amongst the forteen holy helpers . Sadly on the day I visited it was recovering from a recent flooding incident and had blowers all around trying to dry it out . Nonetheless it is a rather beautiful church with some awesome stained glass and a wonderful screen . Kings Lynn was one of the last places visited by King John prior to his death and close by in the high street is a rather cool statue of the man himself . Well I thought it was cool but am easily pleased . Not exactly the most popular of monarch's but certainly a well known one from Robin Hood fame . You can find this King today majestically at rest in Worcester Cathedral . I liked this place as I did the Town and indeed Norfolk too . St Margarets was only given Minster status in 2011 . The reredos was designed by G F Bodley and erected in 1899 . Restoration works were also carried out by Sir George Gilbert Scott no...

The stained glass windows are stunning, as is the intricate carving throughout. The gardens are beautifully presented, too. There's always something going on here from regular services, weddings, and christenings to music and literary events, social gatherings, and coffee and cake. There's a short-term car park on the Saturday Market Place and a couple of nearby long-term car parks to. The church is accessible.

Read moreVisited this beautiful church in the late afternoon while exploring King's Lynn's historic quarter. It dates from the 12th century, when it was attached to a priory, but has only been a Minster since 2011. The interior of the church was very peaceful and calming, and there was a wonderful sense of so much history all around me. Was particularly impressed with the abundance of skilful wood carving down the centuries, on the medieval misericords, 18th century pulpit and elaborate Victorian gilded screen behind the altar. Some very interesting centuries-old memorials and beautiful stained glass. The Minster is free to enter and there's plenty of parking space around it. Well worth spending some...
