It’s not a great family day out anymore since they shut the animal farm and outdoor play area which is a real shame. It’s all overgrown and derelict and a real eyesore/waste of space! It also means there isn’t really anything interesting for children to do outside. (The soft play next door is very good, but it is all indoors).

They are also terrible for any dietary requirements and the food prices are extortionate. I had to ask for two sandwiches to be re-made without butter for my dairy intolerant family members and this appeared to baffle the staff members. I was then charged extra for the kids sandwich to be re-made on-top of being charged full price for the box which should include a sandwich. My husband was told he couldn't have the chicken/bacon sandwich re-made without butter as the mayo contained milk, but this wasn't mentioned on the pre-packaged sandwich? (just the butter was listed as containing dairy). We were also charged £2.25 extra for this. Whilst we were refunded the correct amounts after I raised this, I do worry about this happening to others and the general lack of allergen procedure/awareness. It also meant we ended up paying £5.25 for a plain ham sandwich.

When I asked about dairy free cakes available, one lady said no they have none. Then another lady piped up and said oh no we do have the vegan one available. Again, I’m just concerned about the lack of allergen awareness/accommodation.

Unfortunately, despite coming multiple times over the years I think that will be...

The grounds are beautiful. However, we ( my partner, myself who is classed as disabled and a 6 year old)tried to have something to eat and most importantly to drink on this exceptionally hot day in the cafe/ restaurant. We were in the cue for a good 10 minutes, the server greeted us politely and cleared a table for us to sit outside and told us they write the number down and someone would come over and take our order. After 25 minutes of watching tables being cleared and other tables being served ( customers who had been in the cue after us), I attempted several times to get a waitresses attention to no avail. Even the server/host or had seated us looked over and saw us seating at our table. My partner, went up and asked the host if they had forgotten to write the number down and forgotten us. There was no apology. I tried to explain that we were severely dehydrated and would like a drink as soon as possible and that I could feel my blood sugar levels dropping, I felt sick and kiddy to the response from the host " I have been working all day and had not had a drink" She then stated that she would get her manager ( She said this in a rude/sarcastic way). The manageress asked us to leave and was also exstreamly rude that she never wanted to hear our views or apologised for their poor customer service. My 6 year old was very upset and did not understand why we were asked to leave. We travelled all the way from Boston in this hot weather. We will not be back. This severely impacted on our...

Absolute delightful place to visit, set in very pretty grounds. This old mill is steeped in history, very well laid out, very well stocked gift store with quality items, including what this place specialises in, and that's all things lavender, scented candles, soaps, potpourri, air freshers and much much more

Outside - fantastic grounds for a relaxing stroll, cross over the bridge walk round, or have a picnic while listening to all the bird song, or for a small entrance fee, take a look at the petting area and fuss the bunny's, Guinea pigs, donkey, and many other animals

Hungry - then take a break in the exceptionally nice restaurant, have cuppa, a cake, a sausage roll, have a sandwich, or whatever your heart desires. There are many many choices of locally made delights to enjoy inside or outside next to the river

Enjoyed your dining experience? Then pop to the shop, near the car park, it's packed with all the delights from the restaurant that you can take away and enjoy in your own home, all locally sourced locally grown or made onsite and exceptionally good quality

There's also the kids' indoor play area for all weather's!! There's also somewhere with food and drinks to purchase while the kids run wild!! Next door, a very up market store, packed with top quality items and very one-off quirky items of furniture like lamps, chairs, dining tables and sets, mirrors, paintings, pictures, clocks and...

Beautiful place with a wide range of lavenders to appreciate and purchase. The shop sells lovely lavender based products and gifts to delight all ages. It is on the pricey side. The cafe sells a good range of lunches, cakes and meals, however, 2 points of disappointment were notable: A lady in front of us bought a (pricey) gift and asked if it could be wrapped in a sheet of purple tissue paper, which was in front of the server at the shop till. She was informed that the tissue could only be used to wrap glassware, not general gifts :( We were 2 families who met halfway for a day out. The cafe menus stated they served until 3.30, so after visiting all the shops we decided to have lunch and sat down at 2.20pm. Serving staff cleaned the table and down we sat, chose our meals and went to order at 2.38, only to be told the kitchen was closed so it was cake or nothing :( we mentioned that the menu said 3.30pm and were snappily told the menu also said serving times may vary. Wouldn't it have been better to give warning that the kitchen was closing at a different time than advertised? Or mention it when we sat down? Or be kind about it? Would it be better to stay open a little later to serve the 6 people you would have made a profit from? We struggled to find an alternative place to eat, because the restaurants in the local area also closed early.

Updated March 2025 They have moved the shop area and café around and are still in the process of change. Struggled to get in to the café part as the double doors were locked. Had to go in via the bottom entrance. NOTE- there are steps halfway up so the bottom area is not suitable for wheelchair users as the toilets are on the upper level and also not a lot of room to get about in a chair in the upper area. The shop area is a lot smaller and heavily reduced which is a shame. They have expanded the cafe area and put in a fireplace which made the top area too hot when we were there. Dogs are allowed in all areas and were getting in the way. One was sprawled out at the top of the stairs and owners seemed oblivious to the fact! Visited the shop and the Mill Kitchen café. Entered the shop into an area that is heavily perfumed good for some people but not for everyone who are sensitive to smells! The lower floor had clothing, toys, a few household items and gift ideas. Wanted to know the price of an item but only staff was in the upper area and didn't want to go through there again. The café was good but we don't appreciate that dogs can go in all the areas, It would be good if they kept an area dog free. Late night shopping for Christmas was being advertised in store but had not seen it advertised anywhere else. Very quiet when we visited.
