This is Without Question, one the Most Spectacular Walks in the Lake District National Park, and is Definitely one I Highly Recommend.... But I MUST HIGHLIGHT THAT YOU MUST HAVE A GOOD Degree of Physical Fitness and Hill/ Fell Walking Experience... Good Boots are an Essential piece of kit... Dress Appropriately for the Season you choose to do this Walk in... NEVER UNDRE ESTIMATE THE Weather... Good Accommodation Available in the Great Langdale area, if your planning on making a Long Weekend away or a Holiday...in the Lake District.... Local Bus Connections are Available, But please REMEMBER TO CHECK TIMETABLES AND in Autumn & Winter REDUCED SERVICE...AND POSSIBLY NO SERVICE ON some Days... Check with the Local Tourist information Centre.... Have a Great Time...

The view from here never disappoints. It can be a arduous climb up from Stickle Gyll car park, however almost all the way is paved, and requires no technical skills. A brisk hiker can ascend in less than 45 mins. Once at stickle tarn, you may either go around the rock face, or climb straight up through Jack's Rake. On bank holidays and sunny summers days, expect to see many folk. Best get here early to enjoy any sense of solitude. Parking and toilets at the main carpark.

An enormous cliff above Stickle Tarn. It's worth walking up to the Tarn for views of it alone. Unfortunately, the main walker's path that climbs it from the Eastern side is in a bad state. It's very eroded, and unpleasant to walk on. A scar on the landscape in need of repair. I'd recommend approaching the summit from Harrison stickle instead, unless you want to climb Jack's rake.

Probably one of the most dangerous things I have done in my life. Don't underestimate Jack's rake, you need decent physical upper body strength to get up several virtigo inducing obstacles and once you are commited going up you basically can't go back the way you came. thankfully we had brilliant weather. but if it was raining or even slightly windy this would have been a death...
