Absolutely beautiful place and staff or rather family. My first ever vineyard experience and it's owned and ran by a family who all play a part. The son was very knowledgeable and explained a sideshow to start with, explaining everything including the logo. He was very open to questions and very happy to explain how they make a rośe as I am a rośe person. The scenery is beautiful and the actual wine tasting was lovely too. He explained exactly which notes were in each wine and how it was made, along with which years crop. We choose to have food (optional extra) there. There is the option of a vegetarian cheeseboard which is perfect as I am vegetarian so this is an added bonus and a meat and cheese board which my husband had and loved. The son and his lovely pregnant wife came to each table to explain everything on the board and the chutneys and where you can find it to buy. My husband has previously been to a vineyard a gift I purchased for him, it cost me a fortune; however, he commented that this vineyard was far more superior both in scenery, knowledge, q&a's and friendliness. I have already recommended the vineyard to family and friends to visit and we will definitely be re-visiting as may order a few bottles of wine online as we didnt purchase today. All we can say is thank you so much for such a friendly welcome and a amazing day. And, get plenty of sleep now before the baby comes :-)....
Read moreWe thoroughly enjoyed our tour and tasting. Having been to many English Vineyards we were quite excited to find Velfrey Vineyard was not far from where we were staying in Little Haven. I booked through their website which was very quick and easy to do, we decided to stay for the grazing boards afterwards. It's owned and run by Paul, his wife Fiona, son Ryan and Ryan's wife Sophie, all of whom were there on the day. It is in a lovely setting, up a rather narrow road but unfortunately they have not been allowed to put up any signage but don't worry the sat nav takes you straight there. We were shown slides of how the venture came about and Paul tells the story very well. We walked out to see the vines and were told about how they look after them, it was all extreme.ly interesting and different from other vineyards we have been to. We tasted 4 wines, a still white, 2 Sparkling whites and a still Rose. All different and all tasty; Paul led us through the wines. Afterwards we sat outside to eat the Welsh grazing boards, Sophie going through were everything had been sourced (all Welsh). We had a lovely day and definitely recommend a visit if you are...
Read moreWhat an amazing place !!!! Tucked away in complete peace. Beautiful surroundings. 6 family members were having a very special time together for personal reasons and we came across Velfrey Vineyard close by for afternoon tea. I spoke to Andy a few days earlier and explained the situation that for all 6 to attend I would need to bring my dog if possible. Andy was so accommodating and said no problem and if the dog needed to ‘move away’ I could take her for a walk around the vineyard. We all arrived for our 3 o’clock booking last Friday to be very warmly greeted by Fiona. What a lovely family business. My dog made herself very comfortable and we had the place to ourselves, It was magnificent. The food was brought in by outside caterers and every bit was as fresh as the first. Ryan then joined us and we had a overview and was told the history of Velfry Vineyard. Very Highly recommend..please don’t miss the opportunity of visiting this lovely place and enjoying a feast of an afternoon tea. Thankyou Andy,...
