A must visit for any couple or family who enjoy countryside and natural beauty.

I took my partner here around two years ago for a long weekend. I booked a cabin on the lake with a hot tub.

Once we found the place, it wasn't the easiest on the Satnav, we were not disappointed. Away from the business of the main roads and on a beautiful little lake, the view was second to none. In addition it is a quiet location far from local towns and places, so you have the extra luxury of privacy.

There are several reasons this place sticks out to me. Firstly was just the fantastic location, but also their choice of staff.

We loved our cabin, which was stunning inside and out, clean and well presented with all amenities including hairdryer to towels and linen, dvds, games and anything else you can think of, but for the pair of us it wasn't the cabin that made our weekend but the amazing staff.

Our first night we stayed on site for our dinner, the menu was not vast but the food would delicious and cooked to order, this gave us a great opportunity to really have a good look at the location but also a wonderful chat with the staff.

I do not remember the name of the lady, she was slightly older with short blonde hair, but she could not do enough for the guests. From food recommendations to must see local sites, great little villages, drives and touristy stops she clearly knew the area well and was confident to give us some fantastic recommendations.

Nothing was too much trouble for her, and she was happy to take the time to show you directions, maps, view points. We were totally blown away with her knowledge and expertise, what a fantastic woman to have representing your business and looking after the guests.

Please if the owners see this and the lady still works there, she is incredibly and deserves a pay rise! You have chosen well the staff to represent you business.

The icing on the cake for us was getting home after a fantastic weekend only to realise we had left our USB stick in the TV.

We phoned and without hesitation the lady checked, took our address and posted it to us free of charge. It arrived within a few days.

I would have reviewed earlier but it was never online that I could see before now.

Please visit this little gem. Absolutely worth every...

Stunning Stay at Stonerush Lakes

We recently spent two nights at Stonerush Lakes, staying in Lodge 11 Lake View, and it was an absolutely stunning experience. The lodge itself was beautifully decorated to a high standard and offered lovely views over the lake. It had everything we could possibly need, including all bedding, towels, and even robes. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a thoughtful welcome pack containing information about the site and surrounding area, as well as a kitchen pack with essentials like milk, teabags, washing up supplies, and dishwasher tablets. The lodge was impeccably clean and fitted our needs perfectly. The site is remote, offering a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. The lodges are spaced far enough apart to ensure privacy, surrounded by trees and bushes. Our lodge featured a hot tub on the patio, which was perfectly sized for four people and maintained at a lovely temperature upon our arrival. While the site is very quiet and may not have much to offer for children, it is the perfect destination for those seeking a tranquil and beautiful getaway. There is an on-site bar and restaurant, though the restaurant is small, so it’s advisable to book in advance if you wish to dine there. The bar is reasonably priced, and the outdoor seating overlooking the lake makes for a pleasant evening drink.

During our visit, the restaurant faced some challenges with the regular chef not turning up, leaving one lady to manage the bar area. Despite this, she was incredibly helpful and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed. The stand-in chef, who had only started training in the summer, produced some fantastic food. Although the menu was limited due to his newness, everything we tried was delicious, especially the onion rings, which my wife declared the best she’s ever tasted. Overall, we had a relaxing and special weekend at Stonerush Lakes and would definitely return in the future. If you’re looking for a serene and beautiful retreat, this is the...

Cannot fault Charter Oaks!

We have just returned home from a most relaxing 5 days stay at No.7 Stonerush Valley, Stonerush Lakes, Lanreath, Cornwall.

This is a lengthy review, as after reading previous online reviews, I was quite apprehensive!

I spoke to a lady named Martha immediately after booking, to discuss some my worrys, she was understanding, efficient and extremely patient.

Each concern previously raised had either a documented date of a fault rectified, or a generalised reassuring response.

Martha definitely put my mind at rest.  Thank you.

Information emails from a lady called Sally, leading up to our stay were perfectly timed and contained useful and precise details, from the onsite restaurant opening hours, menus and even the offer for the team to make any bookings on our behalf, through to property key lock codes, directions to the site and then onwards to our lodge, all clear and exact, advising via both Google maps and What3words Apps.  Completely stress free moving in day!

Our lodge may benefit from a bit of TLC in the near future BUT, it was squeaky clean and exactly as shown in the pictures - modern furnishings and fabulous facilities!

The Internet worked perfectly throughout, our hot tub was absolutely beautiful and the dishwasher was extremely welcomed (I don't have a working one at home atm!)

Any queries we had were immediately responded to by Sally.  It felt as though Sally was there for anything we might need. Thank you again, for all your communications.

We expected and hoped for trees, woodlands and a bit of relaxation..... we actually got a treehouse, a squirrell and lots of rabbits, a gurgling stream just beyond our decking, a beautiful picturesque bar/restaurant (with Heron!) within 5 mins walk of our lodge, but most of all, we got peace and tranquility x

We would not hesitate to return to the same lodge, or elsewhere on Stonerush...

Absolutely amazing place. We stayed here in May and were blessed with beautiful weather the entire time we were there. Stayed in Waters Edge 2 which is a beautiful lodge with gorgeous views of the lake. We were lucky enough to see ducklings, the heron, geese and lots of other wildlife whilst there. The lodge was equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen and the bed was a comfortable king size! The hot tub was amazing to use and was checked regularly whilst we were there for the week. The site is extremely dog friendly and we can highly recommend the onsite restaurant - Amanda the manager was amazing to us and so friendly & accommodating. She always made a fuss of our dog when we went in for food and the food was always delicious!! Dinner and breakfasts are perfection. We thoroughly enjoyed our week away and we were sad to leave. The site is close to beautiful places such as Looe and Fowey! It’s also a quiet and peaceful site and the lodges are not crammed together so you get some privacy. The reception team were amazing also as they rang us regularly to check how we were and if we needed anything! Always super helpful. Highly recommend this site if you are looking for a trip to Cornwall 💛

Superb lodge. 1 lake view. Beautiful decor and so large for two people. Jacuzzi bath was what attracted us to this property and did not disappoint. Lodge Even has a large separate bathroom. Lovely and clean. Little extras like bathrobes and box of tea/sugar/coffee and milk for arrival was appreciated. Easy check in/check out which is by key safe. Site access is via some tight country lanes and be careful where satnav takes you If there’s road Closures. Beautiful surroundings, wildlife and private lodge. Limited view of lake. The mill restaurant on site was closed all weekend which we weren’t informed about until check in day. That was unfortunate and the only reason I can’t give 5 stars. Having said that, the wifi is great and we were able to search plenty of eateries around. Looe itself was stunning. Eden project 28min drive. Carnglaze caves just 15mins. And they host festivals in the cave, so defo look it up if in the area. Summary: Private, cosy lodge, very romantic, in beautiful surroundings and in easy reach of Cornwall attractions. Highly recommend. Restaurant onsite was closed all weekend. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing place! We had a much-needed, wonderful 3 night stay in 6 Water’s Edge, where the verandah overlooks the lake and where there was a good choice of seating and loungers. We saw a kingfisher, herons, ducks & ducklings, squirrels, geese and songbirds. Waking up to the birdsong and the views was just bliss. The lodge itself was clean, spacious and well-equipped with comfortable sofas and beds. The only thing missing was a few throws as the quilts are quite thin, and a stool for the dressing table would have been handy. Weirdly the TV kept going to Hong Kong TV so we couldn’t get normal channels but it wasn’t a major issue as we just watched Netflix instead. The hot tub was fabulous, really full with great jets and checked daily. The robes provided were much appreciated. We had a great meal in the restaurant on our last night. We were sad to leave and will be back I’m sure. Thank you to the owners and Charteroak!
