A fabulous space supported by volunteers and local support.

MAKE SURE YOU DONATE!! By far one of my favourite places to visit and a perfect example of what hard work and passion can create, every visit I've been amazed at the effort put in by volunteers to constantly improve Rodley Nature Reserve.

From the graft being put in building new Hides to the lovely staff whom man the cafe/visitor centre its great to see.

It's a perfect place for kids to explore nature with nets in the dipping ponds, see nature just centimeters away and be able to touch and interact with nature.

There's around 4/5 large spotting hides, some newly laid paths to assist getting around and provide a more suitable path for wheelchairs.

Car park is on site which is free as well as free entry but please donate to support this fantastic project and people.

There's also a small visitor centre with fish, newts...

Attended the summer fair at the Rodley Nature Reserve. This is a remarkably large area overall, larger than I was expecting anyway. For bird lovers and pond explorers this is a good outing. The landscape is not that amazing, however, as the walks are usually enclosed, and the site does not offer up any wonderful views of Yorkshire's dales. There seems to be an active group of volunteers who were all really welcoming. There is good parking but access is across a narrow swing bridge over the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. The access roads are narrow with few passing places. The reserve is only open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday - as of today - but visitors should check online before making a trip. The nearby Leeds and Liverpool Canal towpath offers a lovely walk either towards Leeds or...

Today I visited with a group of toddlers. We drove in and parked at the first car park. It is very muddy so appropriate foot wear is needed. There is a disabled car park a further drive along the road.

It's a little walk along a flat road to the first hide. It's all signposted.

The children enjoyed opening the windows and looking for birds. We tried to match what we saw to the images in the hide

We visited 3 hides, with good visibility.

Spoke to some friendly helpful visitors who helped us spot some wildlife.

This is a lovely free family attraction, with a cafe on site, we didn't visit that today.

Check out their website as there are quite often events going on pond dipping, treasure hunts usually around...

A Hidden Gem with Heart, Rodley Nature Reserve is a true haven for wildlife and nature lovers. The setting is peaceful and beautifully maintained, making it the perfect spot for a quiet walk, birdwatching, or simply soaking in the scenery. What really sets this place apart, though, is the team of voluntary staff — they are absolutely lovely! Friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do, their dedication brings a special warmth to the reserve. A wonderful experience. Highly recommended! Its FREE. Polite notice No cycling No Jogging No Dog Walking.
