This folly on top of the hill has one of the best views of the Towy Valley. The building itself is interesting, fully accessible and free to visit. Though at the moment of writing, the public are not permitted to climb the spiral staircase (renovation work going on). They have recently removed the wooden fence that immediately surrounded the tower, which makes the tower more aesthetically pleasing. However, this has meant that the local sheep have full access too - may need to check your boots before getting back in the car!! Well worth a visit - especially on a cold winter morning when the mist follows the river - spectacular!!

Well worth a detour. Was this tower a snub to the local people who failed to elect Paxton as an MP or more conventionally a tribute to Nelson? Whatever, it has great views out over the Tywi valley and is a quick visit when visiting other local highlights. Sadly you can’t get to the top of the tower but can access the old dining chamber. Park in the small carpark and walk to the tower. Combine with lunch or deli shopping at Wrights or a meal at Y Polyn, plus a trip up nearby Dryslwyn Castle Hill. Also nearby the National Botanic Garden of Wales, Dynefwr and Aberglasney.

My South Wales mission possible. My dream came true and while travelling and exploring South Wales I just found this tower on my way and decided to have a look. Weather was October style and getting a bit murky, mysterious mood around and when sun was flashing throught the clouds and nobody around.....it was terrific experience. There is a small comfy car park, u ll find basic info about the tower there and driving is on narrow road so be just careful of ongoing cars or walking sheep. Have a good boots cause u ll reach the tower over meadows so if it s wet everything is moody. You ll have access upstairs so if clear skye there is...

Visited with family over Easter and did some egg rolling. There is a small car park near the gate which is free.

The tower itself is positioned on top of a reasonable hill suitable for most people to navigate. Once you get to the top the views are stunning, you can see for miles!

The tower itself is very well preserved and there is very little in the way of dangerous objects etc so you can let the children run around without fear of them injuring themselves. Be aware that the field must be used as a sheep field at some point as there is sheep poo around so keep an eye...
