Avoid This Hellhole – Worst Experience of Our Lives

If you value your money, your family’s happiness, or even basic respect, do not step foot in this place. • We were falsely accused not once but twice. First, for swearing near children (it wasn’t us) — no apology. Then later, while we were off-site at a bar, staff were waiting at the gate to ambush us, accusing us of ā€œcausing a disruptionā€ and threatening to call the police. Our children were left terrified and in tears. The truth? We weren’t even there when it supposedly happened. Did they care? Not one bit. Instead, we were ordered to ā€œgo straight to bedā€ like naughty kids. Humiliating, insulting, and disgusting behaviour towards paying adults with families. • The management — fronted by a very short woman on a permanent power trip — is a joke. Bullying, confrontational, and completely unfit to run a family campsite. More like a dictator running a prison yard than someone welcoming holidaymakers. • The cafĆ© is an absolute rip-off. Ā£25 for ONE tea, ONE coffee, a sausage bap and a tiny breakfast. You’d get better value at an airport lounge.

This place is toxic. Families treated like criminals, kids reduced to tears, and guests humiliated for no reason. We couldn’t get out fast enough.

There are hundreds of campsites in this country that will welcome you with kindness and respect. This isn’t one of them.

Worst holiday we have ever had. This place should be avoided...

Wow!, perfect place for the perfect break. Stunning views even on misty days, cosy and snug heated pod. Beautifully crafted warm and clean shower area, excellent water pressure and steamy warm shower. Lots to do on site and in local area. Kind and helpful staff. Delightful stay. Can’t wait to visit again! 2nd stay3months later😬😁Blissful Camping in a pod. Cosy, comfortable, well insulated for heat/cool/noise, immediate warmth from radiator if you need it, decked seating area with beautiful views from everywhere, plus a kettle and tea making space. Superbly clean new shower block. Colourful Cafe on site with a seated veranda, provides consistently excellent, quality food with a good variety of choice from breakfast to supper, recommend the ā€˜base camp burger’. Accommodating and friendly staff. Activities like horse riding and climbing on site are perfect adventures for adult and child alike. Walkers Eden, with flat ground and mountainous walks with lots of clearly marked footpaths. Wonderful wildlife if you are quiet!, so many butterflies! A conservationist and nature lover’s paradise. Take a stroll past the spectacular ancient Oaks! Favourite place to holiday! Stayed in the new two/three person pod~awesome, one bed is a double with a single bed and there’s a fridge, v handy on...

I booked for an outdoor horse riding excursion for complete beginners (I have already been horse riding before but my friends were new to it). I was very excited for the day but unfortunately the experience was not particularly pleasant. My horse looked very tired and kept on tripping on the external path, on the rocks and muddy route. I have been horse riding outdoors many times and this has never happened to me. At a certain point she fell and ended up sitting on the ground. I was on the top of her and I went down with her as well. She was really looking very tired and it makes you wonder how they treat animals in this place...

Our guide, a woman with curly ginger hair, was in front of us and kept being on her phone for all the time. Considering I booked the experience as for beginners, I was expecting a bit more of engagement on her side, especially for safety reasons. She didn't make us feel she would have been able to help us if anything bad happened.

I would not recommend this place to anyone, it is a shame because the area around be stunning and the animals are lovely. However the management team doesn't take safety as seriously as they should and their horses look neglected,...

A brilliant place to visit. So much to do in one place, the kids absolutely loved it. Our party of five ranged in age from 11 to 76 and we all spent 2 hours in the morning horse riding (£44 each). Hannah and Daisy were brilliant staff, guiding us on the trail and helping us if we needed any assistance along the way. They were very knowledgeable about the area, the horses and very friendly and easy to get on with. We had lunch in the cafe (no panninis mentioned on the website) which was very nice and needed after the ride. We had baked potatoes, ham and cheese toasties as well as tea and coffee. Four of us did the indoor climbing activities in the afternoon which were great. We practiced on the small walls at the beginning, then the high wall, 'rope' bridges, indoor caves and then the high abseil. Jani our instructor was incredibly patient, calm, friendly and a pleasure to be around. It was all great fun and very safe (£38 each but £36 for 4 or more booked together). All the staff wore masks indoors and there was hand sanitiser in numerous locations. A very friendly environment and welcoming to all. We highly recommend it.

I took the kids here back in April 2022. The staff were very friendly, helpful and patient with the kids. They tried the indoor climbing taster and coaching session and absolutely loved it. My then 6 year old was apprehensive but wanted to join in at the same time with her big brothers she has additional needs as all the kids do but the staff were so patient and accommodating with her and she had a fab time climbing the walls, bouldering and doing the very high course. I also brought her back herself the following day for a little horse riding and we both went on a little hack. She absolutely loved little conker. The price was very reasonable and well worth it to see the kids happy faces. If we are back down that way we will definitely return.
