My visit prior to now...took EL3 bus from across the road outside Barking Station,got off before it turned left into Long Reach Road. Carried on straight down river road. Narrow park entrance on right hand side on River road in between industrial plants. (More or less walk with the Barrier in sight till you feel to be alongside it and you will see gate). Read more5 stars not to the barrier but to the confluence of Roding River with River Thames. While it’s a magnificent location to witness a natural event, access to it is equally miserable. On both sides to Roding it’s industrial areas making access not convenient to general populace. The approach on west side is through a place called Creekmouth open place. There are two problems with this entrance. There’s no parking on the main road and it’s double yellow lines. Read moreWorth the effort of cycling along A13 and hearing its roar fading as you disappear closer to the Thames! On a sunny day the river is stunning and vast. Great for Peregrine Falcons which roost on the top and can be seen flying amongst the gulls and calling to each other. Picnic in Barking Creekside Nature Reserve.
