This is a huge park with farm animals, reptiles and lots of species of trees and insects. There are some fishing spots as well🎣 and ducks 🦆 and swans 🦢 here are just so gorgeous!
Although Bedfont Lakes Country Park opened as a new park in 1995, laid out on a former contaminated landfill site, in the 1890s the area was part of a large orchard that supplied Covent Garden. In winter the lakes attract a good variety of wildfowl with occasional Smew and Goldeneye amongst the more plentiful Gadwall, Pochard, Shoveller and Teal. Resident water birds include Mallard, Tufted Duck, Great Crested grebe, Coot, Moorhen and Mute Swan. In summer Common Terns nest on rafts in the North Lake.
There are varied habitats including lakes, reedbeds, woodland and grassland. These give rise to some 150 bird species being recorded which is an impressive total given the sites recent industrial history.
Ample parking space. Park has two entrances. Closing time varies each day and is often written on the entrance gate with chalk. Pleas make note of it. If the gates are locked before you leave then it’s not possible to get the car out as there is no...

Read moreIt's free to enter and free to park. There are two separate car parks. Toilets are available at one of the car parks. The park closes shortly before sunset meaning opening hours change throughout the year. There are a couple of reasonably good play areas, but they could do with some maintenance. The best feature of the park is it is made up of small rolling hills with small lakes dotted around. Although the hills are small, they provide a welcome relief from the otherwise very flat surroundings. There is one hill with a plinth on top with views for miles in almost every direction. It's a great place to walk, exercise, picnic and feed the ducks. There are also pedalos you can rent for a charge, but I have not tried these yet as they are a relatively new feature. There are also some wild nature areas. My only criticisms are that there isn't anywhere to buy refreshments and also the park can only be easily accessed by...
