There is a small beautiful Visitor Centre off Romford Road at the Belhus Wood Country Park. It is located right by the Car Park. Rangers delivers educational programmes for children and school groups from here!

It hosts a café, small gift shop and education room. Conveniently, public toilets with disabled access and baby changing facilities are located in a separate unit adjacent to the Visitor Centre.

You can hire a 4WD all terrain mobility scooter from the visitor centre. You need to book an induction before you can hire one.

Nightingale Café serves light refreshments such as ice creams, hot and cold drinks, snacks and sandwiches, toasties and sausage rolls, soup, teacakes and delicious sponge cakes.

Large map and information about the Belhus Wood Country Park is displayed on the wall of the...

This park is great for all ages. On a rainy day it is perfect for muddy puddling, however I would suggest a full wetsuit for the kids. There are small brooklets to jump over or pass through a log, it is so much fun to wander around in all weather. I have seen many pushing buggies too, but the bigger the wheel is the better for you to push. In the end of the journey there is a lake with birds of different kind and the playground. If the weather allows, take some sand toys too. There is a parking on site, which is a bit expensive but I think that the maintenance of this whole establishment takes up a lot of work, so it is worth to pay. There is a shop where you can buy food and hot drink if you forgot something, and also toilet available, both are at...

I love bringing my kids here, especially since the play area has been built. It's always well used, keeps the kids occupied happily for a decent amount of time, and provides a great place to come locally as a family.

However, I'm very disappointed and frustrated today as we've come here for an ice cream and play after school, only to pay for parking (£2.20 for only an hour!) then see a small note on the Visitor centre door to advise they shut at 3:30. This really is an impractical time, given how many people would be likely to use the park and shop after school.

No such closure time noted on website or near car pay stations.

Suggest you revise closing time or better promote what facilities are...

Such a great place to visit for some fresh air and fun! The adventure play park is absolutely brilliant. A great place for a bike ride or ramble through the woods. Dog friendly. Wheelchair friendly - mobility scooters available to hire. The bluebells are out at the moment (May). Clean loos & a café on site. There's also a big pond where you can feed the ducks - food available from the café/shop.
