Fresh air, sunshine and wide expanse of Park lands, rivers, canals and streams. Clean well maintained. Bees bugs fishes birds and butterflies, all around. Good for cycling walking picnics kayaking rowing camping birdwatching and fishing. Ideal for the whole family neighbours and friends. Please take your litter home. If you are a fan of Parakeets please take a stroll along the Hackney Marshes at sunset. The biggest Parakeets birdsong party is about to begin. Click on the video clip above. Along the Lea River and Valley, there are several Bird Hides you can participate. Please join the other birders quietly, open a nice bird window, and enjoy the wildlife in centre stage. Some of the enthusiasts are regulars and can identify the wildfowls. Thanks to mother nature, a little baby island is born in the Lea River, Hackney Marshes. There are a few small plants, moss and lichens growing on the island. Numerous wildfowls, ducks, grey herons and swans also rest on the island. I have not seen any nests on the ground yet. A video clip of this baby island is available above. I will update photos of the baby island as she evolves and matures. The Heron Island in Walthamstow Wetlands is a world-class Heron habitat. Compliments to the team of scientists, researchers, volunteers and conservationists who are still working on this project. Jolly good. The Goldcrest is the smallest bird in GB and Europe. Watch this video clip shot at the Walthamstow Wetlands. In any international birdsong contests, the Song Thrush will collect Gold for GB. This Thrush has fantastic choreography, notes, pitch, acoustics, and volume. Simon Cowell will blush when this Thrush...

The river and the green spaces here are second to none, you'd think you were in the heart of the countryside, you see Deer, foxes and an array of birds, although I personally don't know my species of bird very well. There is an assortment of lakes to fish in/on (weather and season permitting). Variety of places to picnic, there is a local bird sanctuary, I've never been myself, and there is an old gatehouse, and you can see various birds nesting (season), there is also a lovely little good place, not far from station road, it sells hot and cold food, not to badly priced, and the ladies who serve ate lovely and treat you like an old friend, as opposed to customers, there's indoor seating and outdoor, not to mention a carpark, and picnic area, also on the river front. Adjacent to that is a bike hire place, and a canoe/pedalo/ boat hire place. You can sit near the old mill, of which there are still remnants, imagine that! Its like seeing into a little bit of history. There are public toilets nearby (my first port of call, having a 4 year old). There are plenty of garden type spaces to sit and enjoy the peace, with only the calls of the above mentioned birds. Its truly beautiful. Plenty of spaces for dog walkers, and the food place also put out water for dogs as well!!! They sell home made cakes, etc, and hone made ice cream......

Beautiful park and marshland. Rye house is superb. Amazing urban countryside spoiled by a Motocross track smashing the tranquility with engine whine. The trailer park added a unique fairground storage atmosphere as kids on bikes tried tirelessly to access my bag. The pub nextdoor (the whole pub) was a wrecking ground for a couple of toddlers on the rampage for nearly an hour. I never once saw a parent or guardian try to reel them in. If anything, ownership was avoided meticulously. I felt obliged to mention this to the barstaff, they smiled, helplessly, nodding towards a scattered group of lifeforms watching a TV screen while cramming in the burgers, chips and ice creams, wearing leopardskin leggings 15 sizes too small (and that was just the males !) The female specimens were clad in thick layers of red & beige paint under massive wigs....

Between the hum of London life and the hush of hidden waters, I found myself in Lea Valley — a ribbon of green unraveling gently, where rivers speak in silver tongues and trees bow like wise elders keeping watch. The air carried both wildness and calm, dragonflies stitching light across the water, swans gliding like soft prayers, and pathways that seemed to whisper: “walk further, breathe deeper.” It was not just a park, but a pause. A place where time loosened its grip, where each step felt like a return — to something older, quieter, freer. Lea Valley reminded me that even in a world that rushes and demands, there remain sanctuaries where nature remembers us by name.

Lovely park with lots of points of interest for young children. Docked a star for parking issues. Parked in mid- car park down a winding dirt track. Local building work made it hard to tell if it was the right road or not. Once parked up, no pay machines, only by phone or online. Would've been fine if we had good signal, as it is, failed to pay online 3x before it was successful. Took 15mins! No facilities we could find in the park, but once we crossed the railway tracks, a small high street next to train station had a few cafes and a pub and a small Tesco. Kids (4 & 7) enjoyed it.

Lee valley regional park what can I say it was a wonderful place lots of things to see and do, plenty of opportunities to do a spot of fishing and in some areas know fish in excess of 50lbs, the grass was green golden and lucious the ace felt Asif I never needed to leave, I could have attend for weeks, the fresh sent in the air the cool flowing river wasn't to be messed with, many polite people asking g how I was and making conversation, can not wait to go back now not long now till I have a chance at those big this again
