I recently visited the farm with high expectations for a fun and enjoyable day of picking fresh produce. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. Here are some of the issues I encountered:Poor Customer Service: From the moment we arrived, the staff were unhelpful and unfriendly. When we asked for guidance on where to start, we were met with vague responses and a lack of enthusiasm.Overpriced produce: The produce was significantly higher than other farms I've visited specially the raspberries 2 small baskets came to over £23! Complete rip off! and they weren't anything to shout about. It's like we were paying extra for every item we picked, making the entire experience quite costly.Limited Selection of Produce: Despite being advertised as having a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, we found that many of the crops were either overripe or already picked clean. There was very little left for us to choose from.Unclean Facilities: The farm's facilities, especially the restrooms, were dirty and poorly maintained. This made it difficult to enjoy our visit.Poorly Managed Fields: The fields themselves were in poor condition, with many plants looking unhealthy or neglected. It was hard to find quality produce to pick.Lack of Signage and Information: There was minimal signage to direct us to different areas of the farm, and no information provided about the types of produce available or how to pick them properly. Safety Concerns: We noticed several safety hazards during our visit, including broken equipment left in the fields and uneven ground that posed a tripping risk. There was also a lack of clear paths, making navigation difficult and potentially dangerous, especially for children and elderly visitors. Inadequate Parking: The parking area was chaotic and insufficient for the number of visitors. We had to park quite far from the entrance, and there were no clear directions or assistance from staff. The parking lot itself was also in poor condition, with many potholes and uneven surfaces. Lack of Engagement Activities: We were looking forward to some additional activities that are usually offered at pick-your-own farms, such as hayrides, farm tours, or educational sessions about farming and produce. Unfortunately, there were no such activities available, which made the visit less engaging and enjoyable, especially for the kids. Overall, my visit to the farm was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this farm to others and hope that the management takes steps to improve the overall experience for...
Read moreI had no idea that they had fruit/vegetable picking farms within the vicinity of London, so I was very interested in checking this out.
As this was the first time I’ve ever been to this place I am not sure if booking in advance is the norm, but during the current COVID-19 pandemic that is the case. I believe the fact that they are only releasing availability and times two days prior to your selected date is only occurring during the pandemic.
It’s all very nice and easy. You book your two hour time slot online in advance, queue up, grab a trolley if you wish to and then scan your barcode at a kiosk. There will be a member of staff at each kiosk to explain everything to you and provide you with card baskets (for fruits) and plastic bags (for vegetables).
Just to the right of the entrance there is a hand washing station and I would just encourage anyone to use this; especially during these times!
Once you’re in, the only members of staff that roam the grounds are the groundskeepers.
There are signs to direct you to each crop. Some crops are cordoned off as the crops themselves are still growing and are not ready to be picked. Of course there were some people ignoring this but I noticed that most people followed the rules.
There are also signs asking people not to eat their pickings whilst on the grounds, otherwise they won’t make any profit for their hard work.
It’s a very pleasant experience to roam the grounds and pick some fresh fruit and vegetables. After I got home I tried some of the strawberries and they are much sweeter and tastier than the ones you buy in the shops!
When you’ve finished you simply weigh your baskets on scales at the till points and you are charged per kg of each picking.
A good point to know is that you get your initial entry fee refunded if you pick over that amount. Standard entry is £4 per person, therefore, if you pick at least £4 worth of goods then you don’t have to pay anything extra unless you go over that amount. Be careful though as it is easy to get carried away and you could end up spending a lot! But if you’re not going every other week or so then it’s just a pleasant experience.
Overall, I really enjoyed myself and I’d be more than happy to visit again in a few months perhaps. It’s a great time out...
Read moreWhen searching Google for pick-your-own farms near London, many reputable websites suggest Parkside Farm as one of the best. Top-notch produce, an abundance of fresh, softly ripe, juicy, and luscious berries, table-top strawberries for easy picking, well-organized signage, a tidy environment, a sizable crop area, ample parking, and affordable prices are some of the key characteristics that set it apart from the competition.
To me, fruit picking means strawberry 🍓 picking - plain and simple! And the availability of other fruits and vegetables is a bonus! The colour of strawberry 🍓 is red as fire, very bright, and there are many small dots on it. There is also a green "small ring crown" on the top of the strawberry 🍓, which is quite fascinating! Perhaps because of this, strawberries🍓 have the reputation of being the "Queen of Fruits".
Everybody of all ages and abilities may easily reach Parkside Farm's big strawberry 🍓 sections because they are all table-top. Their strawberries 🍓 are of the highest calibre and enormous! Strawberries 🍓 come in deep red, reddish red, light red, and green varieties. Strawberries have different flavours depending on their colour: the deep red variety is extremely sweet and sweet, the reddish kind is sour and sweet, and the green variety is sour. Strawberries 🍓 bought from the store pale in comparison to the flavour of freshly picked strawberries 🍓 from the farm! Those who have tasted both agree that the product bought from the store lacks the natural aroma, freshness, and delicious excitement that the other does!
Tabletop Strawberries 🍓, Blackberries, Raspberries, Blackcurrant, French Beans, Courgettes, Spinach, Beetroots, Sweetcorn, Green Onions, Squash, and Tomatoes are among the crops grown at the farm.
The staff at Parkside Farm are incredibly friendly and helpful, which makes the experience enjoyable and productive.
There are numerous hand washing stations by the main entrance, and their toilets are clean. Toilets are also conveniently located in the parking lot outside the ticket barrier.
The fact that the parking lot gets extremely dusty and is difficult for visitors with asthma is one thing that should be improved. The management can take action to lessen the dust in the...
