A large well-maintained park with many unique features! It is middle of residential houses and right next to the Porters Avenue Health Centre and Barking and Dagenham Adult College Parsloes Campus!
Well-maintained is only for the green space, Football Pitches ⚽ and grass area! Play Area, Lake 🌊 , Tennis Court 🎾 are in desperate need of repair! Tennis Court is now disused - Play Area and Skate Park seem to be disused - in need of love!
An Ornamental Lake is adjacent to the Gale Street. Side of the lake is covered with overgrown bushes and trees! Difficult to enjoy the lake even though benches are there to sit and relax!
BUT! Becontree Forever is now celebrating 100 years of the Becontree Estate! And regeneration of the Parsloes Park is now well underway! Reviving the original vision for the People’s Park!
New culturally sensitive play structures are being built! New football Pitches are being built! Lots of noise and dust around the park!
Hopefully, once Regeneration done, the Parsloes Park will really become The People’s Park as it...
Read moreParsloes Park is just a shadow of what it was, when I was growing up. The American Swings, The Umbrella, The Big Slide, Sandpit and Paddling Pool. Toilates and a friendly Park Keeper, who would always take care of any scuffs or grazes. It wasn't too bad as my 2 youngest were growing up in the early 70s but by the 80s it seemed to be forgotten. The Council got rid of the Park Keepers so no more Toys or games to borrow. No toilates open, The Sandpit was filled in, the Paddling Pool made into a Skateboard Park. Everything was removed due to the Health and Saftey Act. How can people stay all day with no Toilet facilities. My Mum, sister and I used to spend all day there as kids, as I did with my kids, both Mum n I would take a picnic, there were toilates back then, it was safer, with very little vandalism because of the Park Keepers who used to look out for the kids n take care of the play equipment, and area. So sad. Maysbrook Park is so much nicer and only about a mile away. But as per for LBBD there's no...
Read moreSome may find the park to be empty or bleak, but I rather enjoy the open space. The park is really in two sections, first there is the large open field, with football pitches marked out and areas of wild meadow. The other sections is the enclosed area around the lake, this was also where the tennis courts could be found, but they have long since fallen into disrepair. There is also a children's playground, but again this has fallen victim to vandalism and neglect.
The lake is deep, fenced off and not used for fishing, it hosts the usual ducks, geese and swans; a heron is an occasional visitor.
A flock of parakeets live in the park and can often be heard as they flit amongst the trees.
There are only a few seating benches on the field, mostly close to the enclosed section of the park.
The park is very popular with dog walkers and families. Saturday and Sunday mornings are the busy times with the...
