Some undeserved bad reviews on here about selsdon woods, these people seem to have overlooked an amazing amount of diversity, the amount of butterfly species I have counted at selsdon woods and the massive diversity of flora (including multiple species of orchids) are great! I have spotted deer on multiple occasions and there is tones of birdlife (you do have to sit for more than 5 minutes if your hoping to spot anything) they can be difficult to see because the trees and shrubs are so well established that alot of birds are up in the canopy. A great place to see Nuthatch, Greaterspotted Woodpecker, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Green Woodpecker etc. This site is in desperate need of some serious management though, as someone has previously stated all managment seems to have been shoved onto an elderly group of volunteers and although I know they do the best they can, it's simply not enough. Also amazing carpets of bluebells to...

A first class place for walking, dog exercising and a wander through a mixture of woodlands.

Although heavily under funded by the local Croydon council, its well maintained and looked after by a great team of local volunteers which all credit must go to for clearing many of the over grown area making it so pleasant to use which my family does on an almost daley basis for walking our dogs.

Car parking available, plenty of dog poo bins in the car park and entrance gates, no poo bin away from those areas which encourages idiots to hang in trees which is not only an eyesore but very harmful to wildlife which include many Roe-Deer, Badgers and numerous species...

It could be such a lovely place but unfortunatly the amount of dogs running wild and chasing and in some cases killing wildlife are out of control,i have seen two deers being killed by dogs there and the owners couldnt give a damn,it should be re named selsdon "DOGS" nature reserve, also a lot of busy bodies being nosey especially if you are not a dog owner, such a shame as it is a lovely woods but just too many dogs running free, they think they own the place, they have ruined it..would not recommend this at all especially if you have children because of the ridiculous amount of dogs running around ruining the woods...

Great place to have some time out from the city. Not too far from central Croydon, with a little car park and quite a lot of people, but it's not too crowded. Good place to relax... Singing birds, wild flowers... Or to let the steam out and burn some calories. It's not too flat so walking some gentle hills if you like or just spend time on the open grassy area to catch some tan. Superb to go out and socially isolate with your family or without.

Selsdon Nature Reserve is a wonderful place to walk the dogs. There many loads of different tracks around the woods and fields, easy to get lost but just keep walking and you will eventually find your way back to the car. There are various entry points, I prefer using the car park which can get full but you can then park on the road. Mostly dry over the summer months, winter it can get very muddy, all part of the fun they tell me…..

Didn't know this place existed until now. Great for dog walkers cycling or picnics like we had. We sat on the part where the grass slopes down...behind us were the woods. There are sign posts in the woods to direct you in the right direction. I will return there for a little cycle ride one day. When you sit down on the grass you can see central Croydon .
