What a beautiful place! It was a joy and a pleasure visiting Lyddington Bede House. Although most of the building is sadly now a ruin there is more than enough of it left to be able to watch in awe at what must have been one of the grandest buildings in the county if not the country. It is a real shame that due to current restrictions the small available upstairs part of the building is not not accessible to visitors but hopefully times will change and I may be able to tour those parts on a future visit. The architecture is absolutely stunning and I'm sure would be a must see for any budding architect or historian. The building and grounds are maintained as meticulously as possible and I commend those involved. Currently, due to Covid, masks must be worn whilst inside any part of the building and only the disabled accessible toilet is available for use. There are a good group of peacocks and peahens who will certainly keep you company if you choose to have a picnic at any of the eight picnic tables available each of which can seat up to eight people and each table is completely socially distanced from the others. Good amount of parking available with a relatively short walk to the House itself. Absolutely worth a visit and I would heartily recommend it. Just remember, if it is raining or cold, dress appropriately. Keep up the good work...

Really interesting place to visit owned by English Heritage. The building was in use as a Bedehouse up until the early 1930s when with the introduction of the post war welfare system it was taken over by English Heritage. There is some excellent restoration work and a few of the rooms are decorated to give a feel of how they would be for their occupants. There are uneven steps and some low doorways so those with reduced mobility or in a wheelchair would not be able to access all areas. Next door is the village church and is also worth a walk around, stones in the graveyard date back late 1700s and early 1800s and the church interior has some...

What a lovely little find, all part of English heritage site, absolutely worth the money to go in I think it was £7.20 if not a member of EH , we was there about 3 hours looking and reading the information, plus it was a beautiful day to sit in the love well kept English country garden with an ice lolly. Really helpful staff who knew her knowledge of the property... wheelchair friendly downstairs , but no lifts up to the second and third floors so only accessible by foot up the stairs... beautiful well kept village with thatched cottages and a friendly pub. Well worth a visit. Dog friendly but dogs are not allowed upstairs...

Set in a picturesque village I was able to park on the roadside quite easily but during the busy summer months I would imagine it could be tricky finding somewhere. St Andrews Church is quite impressive looking set along side Bede House. Some interesting & historical artefacts can be found in both. Some old headstones in the churchyard along with very old coffin lids just inside. Bede House is set to lawn with some seating. It's not a very large place & would say 90 minutes tops is all you need to visit both these buildings if you take a walk around churchyard too. Though if in the area, well worth a visit.
