This should be 5 stars but United Utilities are not managing this for public user but mainly for water catchment. Shame on UU! What does that mean? Well there is a massive lack of parking. There are minimal public facilities. Users are falling out with locals due to traffic issues and different users and different needs. I've ridden MTB here every week for about 15 years now, we are at best tolerated in the forest. There is a couple of small runs over one side nothing great. All the decent runs are all "unauthorised" trails. UU need to find somewhere for a decent sized car park with a pay for parking fee and use those fee to improve access / the forest. Better still would be to work with the council to and increase the size of the forest and then we'd have more room for us all to...

Macclesfield Forest is an absolute gem. If you're looking for peaceful walks surrounded by nature, this place is perfect. The trails are well-maintained, and there's a lovely mix of woodland paths, open views, and spots by the reservoir to stop and take it all in.

It’s incredibly quiet and serene — the kind of place where you can truly switch off and enjoy the sounds of birdsong and the breeze through the trees. Whether you're going for a gentle stroll or a longer hike, there's something for everyone here.

The scenery changes beautifully with the seasons too — it's just as magical in misty autumn as it is on a bright summer day. One of my favourite places to escape to for fresh air, calm, and a proper reset. Highly recommend for anyone who loves...

Super easily accessible and perfect for walking your dog. Sometimes you'll stumble across a herd of red deer and the views out towards Wales and the Cheshire plain are fantastic. A circular walk around the entire thing is about 10km and takes two hours. Essentially it's two good walks either side of a couple of reservoirs. So you have to walk on some roads some of the time if you want to do the big loop. 10 minutes drive from Macclesfield and easy parking to. A gem of a place for walkers, dogs and...

Such a nice walk. You can take an easy walk around the reservoir or for the more adventurous climb up to the top and admire the amazing views. There are plenty of places to park for free. Toilets in the nearby pub by the reservoir or there is a hut with loos and parking at the foot of the forest.
