The Wrekin is one of my go-to places for a Sunday walk. Situated on the outskirts of Telford, it is easy to travel to and promises a great cardio workout coupled with beautiful views. A short, 40 minute hill walk (depending on how many times you stop to take in the views, catch your breath and take photos), with many people of all ages enjoying a casual walk wifh dogs or families, jogging up or bike ride up the hill. As it is a hill walk, it can be quite strenuous and is not suitable for wheelchair users. There are various hidden routes away from the usual common route if you wanted to avoid people whilst we are in a restricted situation. My partner and I sometimes park around the corner from the main parking area and head up an uncommon route. Due to the new road layout and bike route, its best to visit the Wrekin early in the morning or before sunset, or if possible, a weekday, as it can become very congested in peak periods on weekends. There are also various bike routes to explore too. Once at the summit, you will be met with stunning views overlooking much of the Shropshire and Telford areas. We recently sat on top of the rocks and watched the beautiful sunset and soaked up the views. A place I will never get bored of and will continue to visit.

A great local walk with a non-stop incline! great work out for the quads, glutes and calves. a regular hiker will find this easy but as someone who recently started hill walks found this a little harder than others i have completed. Fantastic views, great diversity of users, however, cloud cover can happen very quickly and without warning depending on wind direction as you can see from our photos. A great morning walk and a good introduction for a beginner like me. I agree with other reviews, there are a lot of discarded pet poo bags at the summit and hidden in the rocks, that should not be happening, also a lot of dogs not on leads so please bare that in mind.

Came here for the first time and it is worth the visit: Pros: -not to long to do, so can do in a morning and have plenty of time approx up in an hour. - Views are very nice. - Parking is not as hard as some say of your willing to park alittle further out and walk an extra 25 mins there is a free car park by Ercall lane. - Great for moderate level walkers. Cons: A few people seem to tackle this so you may have the odd family or couple with you as you hike up approx a few.l metres away. If you prefer solitude then try something else - Unfortunately the halfway house cafe is closed down so did not get chance to experience this.

I personally loved the Wrekin, Wherever I looked there was Ghost of history awaiting to be explored. I ran up and down the hills like a child. I also liked the little village at the bottom of the hill. I could see myself living there . There was such beautiful views of The Black moutains, it's rather beautiful to stand on top of the hill and see so far . The bird life is also breathtaking, There were kyites there too, spectacular birds of prey. We went to the bistro pub for £ 150 pounds for fish n chips for three of us, It was a very lovely pub with a lovely family run pub but you need to have deep pockets....

There is a car park very near the start of the hike up to the Wrekin, I believe that you have to pay to park but can’t comment as we parked on the free parking area, all along the roadside there is fee parking (please park responsibly) to avoid a ticket! The hike up to the top was very enjoyable with some extremely stunning views. You will often see paraglides taking off from the top which is cool to watch. We visited on a Sunday and it was extremely busy. Because of this, if we was to visit again we would visit in the week and leave early!

Excellent walks with a choice of trails ,most people stick to the main path which is pretty much a constant incline to the summit, this is heavily used by the public great for cardio. The real gem of a walk is take the left track before the incline to the half way house, this takes you through the woodlands forest walk all the way to the opposite side of the wrekin and a beautiful wooded trail to the top which zig zags up the rear face of the wrekin .(Highly recommended)
