What a lovely garden . Tucked away close to Penzance with a very picturesque gated entrance that is not used as the public entrance . Just past the gated entrance are two car parks , one on the right is an overflow car park with the second small car park on the left also being the public entry point. Both car parks are free and the entrance carpark also has a toilet . Walking down the windy entrance path to the main entrance / shop where entrance is free for National Trust members. We have yet to explore the whole gardens due to time constraints but we really enjoyed the walled garden , orchard area, the lovely second hand bookshop . We visited the cafe which was light and airy with plenty of seating inside and out. We had a pot of tea with china cups and the garden vegetable soup which we would highly recommend , the staff being polite and efficient. The cafe also has male, female and disabled toilets . The site has another toilet sited close to the second hand bookshop. We noted many beautiful mature trees which we will investigate further on our next visit. Finally the entrance also contains a national trust shop with a good selection of nice items /...

Came here during the halloween half term activities, its a lovely garden with great welcoming from staff. The only dissapointment was that some of the activites were too busy and not spread out enough around the grounds so became over whelming with the amount of people so couldn't enjoy the activity properly. The toffee apple making was a huge dissapointment for my boys cued for ages to then be told they had run out of toffee. So all they had to do was grab an apple, put a stick in it and collect it finished later! ( The woman didn't even let one of my sons stick it in himself!) The staff dealing with the activities were grumpy and too controlling. Clearly didn't have time for children. The storyteller doing the storytelling however was fantastic, happy to chat and talk to the children before and after his fantastic spooky stories, the woman outside however constantly faffing if anyone dare stood on her mat outside the tent with shoes on was very intimidating especially if anyone came close to the tent when storytelling had already started, even just to...

Sensational.....it never let's you down whatever time of year. Beautiful, unusual gardens, no formal rows of planted flowers, just shear magnificence from magnolias, azaleas and rhododendrons to exotic shrubs standing apart like rows of soldiers. There is a perfect stream running through the gardens which is the icing on the cake with masses of varieties of flowers adorning the waters edge. And, they have a kitchen garden. Rows of vegetables, a herb and spice garden and a seat to take in the warmth of the enclosed area and gaze at the glory before you. The gardens deceptively climb all the way up, but you are rewarded by an open area with seating and panoramic views of Mounts Bay and St Michael's Mount. No house to explore......closed to the public but that doesn't detract from the visit. To finish off go in the cafe. It's a must. The variety of food is mindboggling and the salads are amazing.....expensive......but go...

We visited the garden with two children in wheelchairs. We found the gardens to be mostly accessible to us. The gardens lie to one side of the tarmacked drive to the main house. We stuck to the drive itself although the gardens appeared to be accessible, we didn't actually try. That said, the flowering rhododendrons on either side of the drive were staggering. Staff were friendly and helpful. There are disabled parking spaces in the main car park. There is a small accessible toilets in each of the male and female toilets, although my son had to maneuver his power chair very careful to get in. There is a small cafe in a walled garden, but at the time they were only offer drinks and cakes to take away due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

Definitely worth a visit on a clear day, many interesting plants, with several old and relatively rare trees. Don't miss out on the large and unusual walled garden, with its south facing slopping beds. Good little cafe with outside seating area. Another must see is the tree fern glade with stream, never seen so many large tree ferns in one location. Don't visit the garden without making it to the Terrace with its view over Mounts Bay. Ample parking when the overflow carpark is included. Most areas seem to be accessible to wheelchair users, if going to the Terrace, it's easier to use the main drive, rather than taking the many side paths, but potentially several interesting sections may be missed.
