One of several Neolithic stone structures in the Medway Valley. This one is easy to find right next to the footpath. Its purpose or reason for its name is not known exactly but most likely it’s part of a long burrow burial chamber. There used to be a 2nd stone nearby but that was destroyed in the late 1800s. There are a few smaller stones in the woods nearby but those are unlikely to be in their original locations and more likely were moved by farmers clearing their fields.
