Great tree but a shadow of its former self. Estimated to be around 1200 years old. Thank you Sherwood Forest Trust for the very interesting information board. The tree appears healthier now than when the photos on the board were taken in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.

A forgotten piece of important history here. No one is told about this in school why o why. All folk know about is Robin Hood and his Merry men. Is this place mentioned in the Sherwood visitors centre. Cause I saw no information about it.

To the side of the road in a layby with 2 or three parking spots. It's a part of history and glad we popped to see it, an information board nearby gives you some of that history/information.
