the mid suffolk light railway having now been, i can say there are some great staff that are passionate and some that are not, notes of a few that need better people skills, a guy working the points on 03/08/25, very fussy and condescending as the train was finished for the day, stating " ill get in the way of your shot, if you do not move", it could have been said in a much better way ", The women over charged me for my tickets, when i have a carer with me is not good, i explain and showed my card, i did get a refund but having to explain myself when they knew exactly what they did is not the best, also fyi dont talk about toyboys or weird stuff like that when you are working, that is not very professional, overall the railway had a feeling of sloppiness, heritage railways are not easy but its the little things, i liked the engines, the engine shed, the model shop guy, but noticed the unnecessary health and safety messages repeated every time when boarding the train, because possible suing or being liable etc got old " dont jump out, stay in the train" stick up for yourself, tell them to shove it, people are not going to get out of a moving train i mean its the slowest ride ive been on, crawling along, this feeble cowardly world we now live in where everything is spoilt, so overall maintain and repair the 1800s carriages they need it , lots of wear and tear, the carriages needed brakes oiling, very screechy, clean out the smoke box very sooty, suggestion make the loco run abit faster even go up the line twice at good speed as an idea as it was snailing along, thank you to all the friendly staff good job...

When I was growing up in the middle of the last century, there was damn all to do without travelling at least twenty miles, the exception being Bressingham gardens. Since then any number of attractions have sprung up. One of them is the Middy. What a fun and informative place to come to. Good for Children and Humans alike. There's not much trackbed as yet, but one still gets a small trip. It's work in progress and in time (alas not in mine) it will be pushed through to Aspal at least. It's a shame it couldn't also go back the other way, but what would it cost to tunnel under the A140 again (lottery grant) ?! It's all here, lovely old Steam Engines, authentic rolling stock, super cafe, museum, a shop that any enthusiast will love, also a Real Ale bar set in a carriage. Various themes are followed during Summers ranging from Classic Cars to WW2. Everything here is for real, including the heady aroma of hot oil and compressed steam and sounds that our Grandfathers would recognise. There's nothing mocked up 'here. Come and support them, perhaps even sponsor a sleeper. You'll be pleasantly surprised at what you find. 🌳 🚂 🌳🌳 🍰 🍵...

Was staying locally in a cottage in Stowupland within their welcome pack had a leaflet for Mid-Suffolk Light Railway, having checked the website we noticed it was their last open day before closing for the summer season and planned to make a visit, my son loves Railways and trains which MSLR offered a wide variety of rolling stock, When we arrived we were kindly greeted by the front of house staff in the ticket office and told about the end of season event which included some vintage vehicles, live music and morris dancing, the ticket allowed us access to all the site has to offer as well as unlimited trips on the railway, the Aspal station platform was still a working progress which meant we were not able to disembark and see the platform but it was an enjoyable day none the less, Great onsite facilities including a cafe, bar and multiple information displays about the sites history, ample parking for both regular perking and those who require disabled...

This is a small railway (with plans to extend), but charming nonetheless. The staff were so friendly. Bring a picnic as there's a nature area at the end of the line. If you don't like picnics, there's both a cafe and bar, situated in retired rolling stock. The bar is particularly charming and well-stocked. Their working shed is great, particularly because they allow you to walk round without fencing off many areas. If you have small children, keep an eye on them, as there are boxes of tools within reach, but I thought this added to the experience. I am full of admiration for the volunteers who have built this place up from virtually nothing. Their dedication and pride is evident. One tip: we missed the parking sign; parking (except disabled) is in the big field, opposite the entrance to the small lane that leads to the railway yard. A nice afternoon out.
