Really nice place to come anytime of year. Brilliant for walking the dogs or just to come and get away from the world for an hour. There is a real quiet to the place and a feeling of isolation. The landscape has a strange ancient look and feel about it the further you get into the nature reserve. A big plus are the views over Wrexham which are outstanding. The remains of the area's industrial history are also interesting to have a look around. If you can get access to the disused quarry then there are some fantastic fossils to be found but be warned there are some very high drops that are not protected so it's not advisable to take young children or dogs off their leads into this area. There is a good sized carpark and access is good. There is a small portion of single track road that needs to be navigated but it doesn't pose...

This could be a great place to visit. We visited it on a Thursday afternoon and found there were no signs, story boards, restoration work, staff or even any other visitors. Great to explore and lovely walks. Also even more to explore if you know where to look and dont mind going a bit underground but your obviously not meant to go inside these parts as there fenced/gated off for safety reasons but people have forced some open.
