Beautiful area with impressive trees and nice to see a fence and information around the tree. We were really looking forward to seeing the Oak and expected to see a tree that was cherished and cared for. BUT were astonished that the Knightwood Oak was surrounded by other fairly mature trees, bushes, brambles and weeds inside the fence!! Surely these will deprive it of water and nutrition apart from obstructing ones view!! Feel so sorry that to survive 500 years it is not being treated as it should be. Maybe a volunteer group could be set up to care for it. UnfortunatelyI we do not live nearby or we...

This is a historical tree with good information boards and picnic tables. A nice place to visit for great atmosphere and to see the less touristy, but most important, parts of the New Forest. The surrounding woodlands are beautiful. The Knight Wood Oak is only 5 minutes on level ground from the car park, with a clearly marked path. If you want to visit another lovely old tree from the same car park, about 20 minutes' walk in the other direction will take you to the Eagle Oak. This is marked on the Ordnance Survey maps and turns up on Google, but there is no signpost or information board to help...

Beautiful tree and to think of all the things its seen and heard pass by over 600 years. Now it saw me get engaged to my beautiful Fiancée. I would highly recommend this tree.

We returned just over 2 years later, and what is a special place for us and still is being over grown around the bottom of the tree and some of the famous points of the area can't be seen, like the Queen beheading?? New Oaks growing are covered in ivy, that will kill them, New Forestry need to smarten the area up and treat the area...

500 years old and girth of 7+ meters. It’s okay I guess but there are far grander oaks to be found in the UK with others ~1000 years so this more like middle-aged. Still it’s worth stopping by for a look and the oak is still growing so might last another 500 years with some TLC. The paths and car parking were undergoing an upgrade with new surfacing so it’s probably gonna be much more accessible.

A large oak tree surrounded by a wooden palisade fence, a few boards with information about the history of the tree. Looked like someone had hacked it with a chainsaw as most of the branches had been cut off ruining the look of this beautiful old tree which was a little disappointing.
