Sammy Miller has spent many years creating this museum of motorbikes and memorabilia and it's superb. He has basically created a heritage collection for everyone to enjoy hopefully for many many years to come. If you like bikes it's heaven if your not really interested it is still very interesting and a good place to go. The museum is full of incredible exhibits and beautifully presented throughout. Sometimes there are bike meets there and auto carboots which are again fascinating for people from all walks of life and any age.... including our 3 year old grandson. If your lucky you might even see Sammy himself walking around the place. I have to say you can go to Sammy Miller's and not actually go into the museum......I say that because there is an awesome café called Sammy's pit stop 🚏with both inside and outside seating. There's a couple of shops for crafts and gifts. Both shops excellent and interesting and are located in the courtyard. The café is brilliant and the simple menu caters for everyone , beautifully cooked and presented. Excellent value for money and all the serving staff and chefs are lovely. Dog and children friendly with lovely cakes, ice cream and always check out the specials board too before you order as they have great things on there. Not only all the above but there are some artifacts around the courtyard and various animals to see and some bird aviaries that delight the youngsters and us oldies too. Excellent parking and toilets are available to all and it's virtually all easily accessible. Everyone you come into contact with are very helpful and kind 😃. All in all it's a great day out if you are visiting the area.......but if you are local it's a great place to pop in go to the craft shops and the café. Hope you enjoy...
Read moreSince my husband is a motorcycle lover I thought it would be fun for him to visit this place during g our brief stay in the New Forest. When I researched it and read the other reviews I had a good feeling that it would be an enjoyable experience, especially for him. I did not expect that I would also love it as much as I did!
It is an incredibly well organised museum, with so much to see and be fascinated by. The way each section is arranged, the plaques by each model with interesting details and the other accessories which fill the spaces in between (which are all relevant to the concept of each section of the museum), make your visit even more fun and entertaining.
Already as you walk from the car park to the entrance at the rear of the building, you see some cool stuff (e.i. Retro petrol pumps and signs). The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and we had the pleasure of briefly seeing Mr. Miller himself in the workshop, working on a bike. Definitely inspirational! The museum is dog friendly (small dogs at least), we checked that before the visit, and when we went it was not too busy. However, I can imagine that in busy times it can get quite challenging to walk around with your dog, as the lanes can be narrow in certain parts.
We allocated a couple of hours to visit the whole museum, but we could have easily stayed longer as there’s so much to see, read and immerse yourself in. The outside space is also very nice, unfortunately the little shops were closed when we came out of the museum but we got to enjoy a scone and a tea at cafe adjacent to the museum(where there’s also the section with the animals).
My husband enjoyed it a lot and I...
Read moreBeen going here for years, always loved the place. Their new cafe had encouraged us to visit more often, quite regularly infact. It was one of the few places my neurodivergent daughter felt comfortable, and I could relax too. That was until today. My neurodivergent daughter has extreme anxiety, makes it impossible to go most places. She wears a face mask (anime type smile) this mask is the only way she leaves the house, it is her security, its meltdowns if lost, she does not go outside without it! She goes everywhere with it on, never offended or scared anyone, nobody commented negatively, most people smile when they see it. so when we turn up to Sammy Millers as usual, take a walk around, feeling happy, our day gets completely ruined by Sammy himself. The ignorant man told my daughter her mask scared his customers and she wasn't allowed there, and that we had to leave HIS premises, then scuttled back to his work shed not allowingus to explain why she wears it.(been going for years, wearing the mask, HIS customers happily talk to my daughter, HIS customers are obviously more disability aware). WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK MR MILLER, DON'T YOU WORRY! We do not associate with DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION, DISABILITY IGNORANCE or VERBAL HARASSMENT OF...
