Norwood Park - Wedding & Events Venue — Attraction in Newark and Sherwood

Norwood Hall, my favourite place! The moment we saw Norwood we knew we had found our wedding venue. We loved the staircase as you enter and gold & white elements throughout, it felt royal! Firstly, I would like to thank Richard. He initially showed us around the venue and was there throughout our booking process, so to find out he would be with us on the day meant a lot to me. Richard is professional, knowledgeable and kind. He is excellent at his job and we are very lucky to have had him with us through our wedding planning process. He made me laugh! He made me feel at ease, and he is an amazing dress fluffer! The team as a whole are so kind and helpful. Replies were prompt, nothing was too much of an ask. They personalised our requests to involve Jamaican elements such as rum punch welcome drinks. The team really do want to ensure you have the wedding of your dreams and the support we still receive from them is lovely! Norwood felt like our home for the day & the staff felt like family! I would also like to thank Katie whose passion shines through (I hope you have a lovely wedding, not long now!) Sharon who we appreciated for making us feel welcome at our venue tasting, it was so lovely to see you again on our wedding day! We are thankful for your touches such as bringing our drinks that we abandoned over to us after our photos. Lisa, Olivia & the catering team who were professional, efficient and said kind words about the speeches. Also Hazel who we saw around Norwood quite a lot prior to our wedding day, she is head of housekeeping and is very knowledgeable of the hall. She complimented me throughout the day and is a very lovely lady! All our guests commented on how lovely the food was. Our food was delightful!!! Canapes, main course & dessert. And the American buffet in the evening was incredible! We also throughly enjoyed the set up of the venue tasting session we had prior to the wedding. Having our own table decorated was special and we got to try the different wines & food to help make our decisions. Breakfast the next morning was one of the best breakfasts I had! This was included for all guests who stayed and was a buffet style. It was special for us to have that time to reflect & say goodbye to guests. The house itself is so beautiful. When you pull up the elegance and beauty of the house makes you fall In love! The staircase for me was also a plus (I love a staircase). The rooms were all different but spectacular in their own way. Especially the bridal suite and duke suite where the bride and groom can get ready in the morning. I think it’s such a lovely touch to have grooms suite! We had guests stay at the lodges and also had a lovely stay. The fact Norwood had accommodation was a plus for us as we had family travelling so this was important. We fell in love with the bandstand for our wedding ceremony, I never imagined myself getting married outside but the beauty of this area made it a must! Considering it was outside all our guests heard our vows well due to the positioning of the trees. We had our wedding breakfast in the long room, this room will forever blow me away! I just absolutely love the white walls & gold chandeliers. I loved that the wedding ceremony & drinks reception area was separate to the breakfast & reception area. It added an element of surprise for our guests after the drinks reception! The evening reception was also special for us, the room was one we had hoped for! When you walk in it has twinkly lights on the ceiling and a lovely long bar. It felt like an exclusive club! They also provided a dancerfloor which was handy as we wanted one!! The area went into an outside courtyard which was nice as it kept everyone together even when outside. I will never forget the magic Norwood provided for us on our wedding day. I’ve always known Norwood Park was the kind of place I would love to get married. When we got engaged and visited for the first time, we both fell in love and knew it was the place for us. We knew it was a beautiful setting, exclusive use, and loved the fact that the venue is historic yet modern and well kept at the same time. What we didn’t know at the time we booked was just how amazing the people that work at Norwood are. From the moment we booked, until the morning after our big day, nobody could have done more for us. From first contact and through the 19 month wait until our wedding day, communication was great. I often emailed little questions I had and always got a response within a few hours. Nothing was ever too much trouble and every person we encountered was super helpful. After our final meeting, we felt confident that everything would be smooth on the day. Rich made us feel like we were in very capable hands and that he would make sure everything was perfect. On the day itself this was the case and everything flowed seamlessly. A special thank you to Hazel too who we only met on the day but worked tirelessly from first thing in the morning checking all the rooms, until the evening guiding us to our cake cutting and first dance and was there in the morning helping us get all of our belongings together. All the staff members really are pro’s at what they do and I didn’t have to worry about anything. We had our wedding at Norwood Park and it was an amazing venue run by amazing staff.

Pros: All of the staff running the show at Norwood Park were very knowledgeable and emails were responded to very quickly, always within one day. Special thanks to Maddie, Richard, Ellie and Nikki. The venue is absolutely stunning it’s got great spaces come rain or shine. The food was really good, we had the lamb and garlic mash and that was so good. All of the bedrooms are really good sizes and beautifully done. A good breakfast following morning. Some beautiful Highland cows in the field behind the lawn which was lovely for our guests and will be lovely for the pictures. We had some personal issues on the running up to the wedding and Norwood Park really accommodating and supportive. Amazing value - It’s not cheap but what you get for your money is outstanding. The service and the beauty of the place is 2nd to none. I looked at about 20 wedding venues and it was worth it!

Cons: I always try to get some cons for a balanced review but they really were perfect. I think because of that the only real con is that they are very booked up so if you want a prime date like a Saturday in summer you will have to wait for it, we had ours on a Friday that worked really well.

An absolutely magical venue that got us so many compliments from our guests. Thank you Norwood park :)
