Cranfield beach offers golden sands, vehicular access for launching and life guard supervision (summer months). There is a carpark with public convienance and some local food and confectionary shops located in the caravan parks. The beach is located on a horseshoe cove with Haulbowline lighthouse sitting 1 mile of coast. The main Carlingford/Warrenpoint shipping route is located just off the coast, meaning there is shipping traffic to amuse those who aren't beach sports types. Read moreHad a lovely spontaneous family day here recently. The beach seemed to be clean and the others using it also respected it. I didn't see any litter lying around. Dogs are allowed on the beach. There was a car park right opposite and there were also some small food huts/vans. The beach is mostly sandy, with patches of pebbles and seaweed, but it was very comfortable and there were lots of children about on the sand and in the water. It isn't the best beach I've been to, but was small, accessible, and quieter than some of the other...
Read moreA nice beach depending on the tide height and the weather. Shame that the public toilets are shut on a December morning though. At high tide the beach consists of a thin strip of pebbles with the sand exposed as the tide goes out. There is some nice birdlife to be seen out of the holiday season, for example, Oystercatchers and Ringed Plovers .
