Booked to visit North Coast Alpacas whilst staying in Castlerock with my Mummy for a few days. Actually arranged to meet the Alpacas and have a picnic lunch organised by the owners (Jonny and Cheryl). First off when booking, Cheryl was a massive help and organised everything for me and was brilliant at communicating every step of the way. We visited on Tuesday 24 June, maybe because of the weather or the fact the schools holidays hadn't kicked in yet, we had the place to ourselves. Jonny greeted us and made us feel so welcome. We were able to meet the Alpacas and feed them both from our hands and from plastic bowls. The Alpacas themselves were spectacular!! They were in the most amazing condition and were so well socialised around people. Jonny allowed us to enter the pen so we were in amongst the Alpacas and that was a real thrill to get so up close and personal with them. It was clear to see that Jonny is so passionate about his animals and he exuded pride when talking about them. We had so many questions and he was happy to answer and discuss everything we brought up. Although hard to tear ourselves away from our new fluffy friends, it was time to indulge in our picnic lunch. Well what can I say, I did not know what to expect but the spread was amazing laid out and the quality was top class. There was a selection of local products including a cheeseboard with crackers, salami, salmon pate, chutney, crisps, fresh fruit and a delicious apple drink. After a filling lunch we went to say a final goodbye to the Alpacas. The beauty of North Coast Alpacas is that it is not a traditional tourist attraction. It is run by 2 people who care deeply about the breed and the animals in their care. They are providing an opportunity for people to meet and learn about the Alpacas, which in no way causes the animals any discomfort or hardship. Coming from a animal background, all I could see were very contented and calm Alpacas. All in all, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend anyone to go and visit .... you will...

I promised we would visit North Coast Alpaca's for Karin's birthday & we were not disappointed, we both loved it! Jonny was very welcoming & we were introduced to our Alpaca's for the next hour of good company Apollo & Friday after a little feed where ready to go, strolling around the fields on a lead, they love to roll in the long grass & munch on a buttercup or two. Highly recommended for adults & children alike, something about them that just makes you smile, laugh & all is good in the world. I think Jonny mentioned the business is going into its 3rd year so plenty of offshoots to offer in the near future, buying a pair of socks or a scarf made from the beautiful soft Alpaca fleece, even from the one you walked that day! I like the ethic of the farm, caring for the nature all around, badgers, frogs & wild fauna. Hope to visit again as the location would be excellent to view the upcoming Air Show as the view is an panoramic view of Portrush &...

THE BEST DAY EVER!!! This was a present for our Daughter’s 20th birthday, the weather was beautiful but even that wouldn’t have mattered ! The alpacas were waiting for us and Johnny had everything under control. The alpacas were sooooo friendly and very well behaved. We walked them around two large areas and they loved every second - as did we! The scenery was incredible as well. I would highly recommend this to anybody and everybody of any age - even my husband who is terrified of animals took the lead and walked Apollo like a champion. I guarantee you’ll be wanting to spend as much time with the alpacas as possible they are fabulous beasts and Johnny is the best fun with loads of information and stories. Recommend this experience...

We had a brilliant afternoon at North Coast Alpacas and not only met and cuddled these adorable animals, but did so during a trek with a background of beautiful North Coast views and a running informative and entertaining talk from Johnny. His passion is not only for the alpacas, but for his dairy cows, the badgers on his land, and his role as custodian of his land. As a fifth generation farmer he is very conscious of his responsibility and takes it very seriously. His knowledge of alpacas is encyclopaedic and probably the most learned this side of Peru, but it’s all delivered in such a fun and interesting way that kids and adults alike are fully entertained. Book a slot, grab your boots and get over to Portrush for a brilliant couple of hours.
