It says "the best beach in the UK" according to the TripAdvisor website. Well, if you haven't seen many beaches, you might believe it is the best beach, this all depends which perspective you look at it. Funny enough it isn't awarded Blue Flag. Nearest Car parks to the main flat entrance charges £8 until 8pm. And when the car parks are full/usually is full by noon , the other nearest is further up on top of the Hill, charging £5 , the problem is the distance from this car park to get to the beach and back, it's ok if you are fit, deffenitly not easy walk if with little children and also won't be a comfortable walk for the elderly. That's why in my opinion the car parks near to the main entrance are ideal , worth the extra £3. Beach must be ideal for surfing as I have seen many surfers in the Sea. Can't imagine how busy it can get during the school holidays as it was already busy/ crowded enough before the school holidays. Make sure you bring along all necessary stuff with you in your beachbag such as sandwiches, drinks etc. as the food and beverage prices can be expensive if you are coming down as a family. We did find the water a little cold to swim in, that's why maybe haven't seen many people swimming other then surfers. Too many dogs about (I love dogs but don't like dog poos). Life guards around and visible. Not accessible...

Read moreLovely beach, good location lots of parking around which you do need to arrive early for if you want a spot in the car park by the beach. Toilets are clean and well maintained there is also an outside shower to use too. My only biggest downside to this beach was the dogs, I am a dog owner myself and love that they are allowed on here, we went on a very hot busy day and it was over run by dogs on leads. Each family setting up for the day had at least 1, 2 or even 3 dogs, i am sure there was more dogs than kids! It seems (as we moved from one side of the small steam to the other) you can have your dog on a lead anywhere along the beach, dog owners where using the ground anchors and long leads which was a huge nuisance and the constant barking was unbearable. We had paddlebaords and constantly had to navigate leads and dogs while carrying them to the water, small kids running around and tripping over leads. I think Woolacombe council should section off part of the beach to no dogs at all, the beach is more than big enough. I have been to many beaches in the UK which have no dogs allowed sections and have a designated section for dogs on...
