I came today with my little 2 year old to walk the gardens which the gentleman that served me was polite and informative had a wonderful time there! Was let down badly by your cafe and staff there!!! Finally after queueing for 8 minutes to be told by the staff member she can't serve me without a table number, no signs anywhere explaining this before queueing up!! I had to explain I can't get a table as it was just me and my little girl, finally after a couple of minutes another member of staff said they would get me a table and put a reserve sign on it. After all that the staff member gave me a table number and was served, asked do I wait for drinks and everything to be told it'll be brought to my table.sat down and drinks came with no spoons asked if they brought cutlery when food arrives to be then told no you get it yourself!!! Had to run inside quickly to get it all as I had to leave my bag at the table and mess my little girl around. Food arrived after staff member shouted my table number out!! Scrambled eggs where white and snogging in places and beans were cold, I thought they would bring butter out on plate but didn't so didn't eat my toast as didn't want to run inside and leave my 2 year old by herself while she was eating!!! No one came to ask if everything was okay. What I don't understand is if your staff have to shout the table numbers out why don't the staff hand them out at the counter instead, then whoever is cleaning the tables can collect them, much easier system, especially when I saw 3 staff member stood doing nothing. Not the best visit I've ever had that is the reason for the 1 star because of the food and the cafe staff, would off left 5 star if I only went to the gardens as the staff there...
Read moreWe pre booked a table at the cafe and booked tickets for the garden. We arrived and had to ask twice to be seated at our table. Given the weather it was very busy. To place an order you then have to go back out to the cafe and join the queue. The menu is very limited in choice but I assumed this meant orders could be made much more quickly. We ordered two bruschetta’s. After 20 minutes we had to ask for our water. 45 minutes later we were still sat with an empty table. I went back to the counter to be told our ticket was three away from being made. It eventually arrived over an hour after we placed our order. Was it worth waiting for?Absolutely not. I was genuinely shocked with the pre sliced soggy bread (not toasted, not an uncut loaf but an actual piece of soggy sliced bread) that had some pesto spread on, tomatoes chopped in half and a small amount of rocket. Not mixed and tossed on. I was so hungry at this point, I ate it but it was quite frankly disgusting! I saw no point in complaining as when I enquired on the whereabouts of our food after 45 minutes I wasn’t exactly met with anything other than surly faces and no apologies. What I do not get is what is the point of booking a table in advance if your order is put in with the crowds? Surely pre booked diners should be priority and those turning up on the day are made in between? We then went for a wander round the gardens. They are lovely but small and certainly not worth £10 per person. Very disappointing. I cannot recommend the food. I get that it was busy but there are things that could be put into place to alleviate this and there is simply no excuse for the food that was eventually...
Read moreWe arrived early at Renishaw Hall to exhibit our car in the classic car show. We had arranged to meet friends for a meal in the Court Yard Café. My wife and I decided to have the set meal of three courses. After a short while the meals arrived, all three courses at the same time, in three small ramekin dishes on a piece of wood. We ate the prawn cocktail, half a shredded lettuce leaf six prawns and a teaspoon of mayonnaise waited for the rest of the main meal to arrive I.E plate with veg etc but was told that what we got was it. The main course, four pieces of 20mm sized cubes of meat and a few pieces of diced carrot. On to the pudding in an even smaller ramekin, some kind of sponge with a small vessel of either milk or cream. When I say small I mean a lot smaller than an egg cup but slightly bigger than a thimble. We were very disappointed. When the waitress cleaned away the pots she asked if everything was OK, to which we answered no and that we were shocked at what we had been served. Her answer to this was that old people don’t eat that much anyway. A few moments later a man came shouting across the court yard asking how dare we complain to his wife, to say we were shocked would be an understatement. We will be back next year to support this wonderful event but will be taking advantage of the outside caterers, who were on site, unless the owners have given there staff some customer relation training. YOU HAVE...
