I went to Hitchin Lavender Farm yesterday and honestly, it was such a lovely experience. The moment you arrive, you’re welcomed by the calming fragrance of lavender floating through the air. The fields are absolutely stunning, rows and rows of purple stretching as far as you can see. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and just a great place to slow down and enjoy nature.
The food was a pleasant surprise too! I had a lavender ice cream cone (delicious), some lavender lemonade, and even lavender chips – which were way better than I expected. There’s also plenty of other food and drink options if lavender isn’t your thing, but if you’re up for trying something different, this is the place. Also, there’s a vegan options available.
I picked up a small bag of lavender to take home for £4/- and my room smells like a spa now. We ended up chilling under the tents with a cold beer, just soaking in the vibe. The people around were super friendly and interesting, everyone seemed to be enjoying the day, and the atmosphere felt very relaxed and welcoming.
One little disappointment was that I didn’t get to enjoy the sunset, because the farm closes at 8 PM, and it would’ve been amazing to see the sun go down over those purple fields. Hopefully they’ll consider staying open a bit later during peak season.
On the practical side, the toilets were very neat and clean, which I always appreciate when you’re spending a whole day outdoors.
All in all, I had a great time and would definitely go back. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to return year after year. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape not too far, I’d definitely...

Read moreWe recently visited Hitchin Lavender Farm and had an absolutely amazing experience! The whole day felt like a perfect escape into nature — beautifully scenic, peaceful, and wonderfully pet-friendly.
From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning sea of purple stretching across the fields. The aroma of fresh lavender in the air was soothing, and the views were breathtaking — perfect for photos and for simply taking it all in.
What made the visit even more special was that we brought our pet along — and they had a blast! Hitchin Lavender is genuinely welcoming to pets, and it showed. One of the biggest highlights was the pet ice cream available on-site. Our furry friend devoured it and couldn’t get enough! It’s such a thoughtful touch for animal lovers.
We also tried the lavender ice cream ourselves — and wow! It was creamy, floral, and incredibly refreshing. A truly unique treat that we still talk about. The food options in general were lovely, with plenty of choices for snacks and drinks, and the outdoor seating made it easy to relax and soak up the atmosphere.
Before we left, we couldn’t resist browsing the shop. We ended up buying several lavender products — from oils and soaps to beautifully packaged dried lavender. Everything smelled divine and made perfect gifts (and keepsakes for ourselves). Whether you’re coming for a peaceful walk, a family day out, or just to spoil your pet a little, Hitchin Lavender is 100% worth the visit.
