Knebworth House and Gardens is a great place to bring kids of all ages, although probably best for under 10s.
Within the grounds there is 'Fort Knebworth', a huge wooden fort for kids to climb, hang on and run around on. Next to that are the slides; a 4-person slower slope for littler kids, a corkscrew and a sheer drop for those feeling brave! They were brilliant and I highly suggest parents get involved too! Outside the Fort the fun continues with loads of play equipment, assault course stuff and swings.
You can drive to the Gardens however I suggest walking from the Play Park to the Gardens if it's a nice day. It only takes about 10 mins, if that (not the 25 that's on the leaflet!) and you get to walk past the Mausoleum which is also very interesting.
The Gardens a tree beautiful and well-kept, and include a maze, woodland walk and Dinosaur Park, the latter of which was much larger than I'd expected. It's a very chilled out, serene place to go, and should you go in Summer, feel free to take picnics and even off-the-ground BBQs. The cafe was also nice and well-priced.
We didn't get to go in the House as it was closed for filming, but didn't detract from the visit by any means.
I'd highly suggest this place if you want to go and chill out whilst the kids play. It's a beautiful place with wide open spaces, it doesn't cost the Earth (£36 for family of 4 ticket) and if you take a picnic it's even cheaper. However, the best thing by fee (especially if you've got kids) is that everywhere around the play area is manned with very friendly and...
Read moreI visited Knebworth with my two young children, not our first visit but the first since lockdown ended! Everything was well run and we felt very safe. We started with a picnic on the large fields next to the car park before wandering through the gardens. There were attendants dotted around with hand sanitiser if you didn't have your own. The dinosaur trail was a big hit, as always. Afterwards, we purchased some mementos from the gift shop and headed outside to buy an icecream from the cafe. We ended the day with a play at the fort. It was busy but not crowded. We had to queue for about 15 minutes to get in the fort as they are limiting the numbers allowed in due to Covid19. A...
Read moreA great family day out, however you will need to book a slot for the Dino trail though! So long as you bring a picnic and the weather's kind the kids will love the playing area and also the Dinosaurs of course! Social distancing and hand sanitiser stations, clear signage indicating distance to keep apart and direction are visible throughout! Warning beware the gift shop at the end of the trail! While waiting to meet the Dinos, the grounds have old trees that have been beautifully carved into various shapes and statues of people and animals! Informative and fascinating but impotrantly fun!
