Middleton Hall and Gardens are a huge pleasure to visit. The house has a long and interesting history, and with each room devoted to a different topic there is plenty to hold your interest. My favourite parts of the house were the old kitchens, the magnificent dollshouse, and the old stills for making medicines. I was impressed by the amazing Peel Museum, which is a large room staffed by volunteers stuffed to the gunwhales with Peel memorabilia and archive material. This in itself is well worth the entrance fee. Outside I loved the walled garden and herb garden, and paths wound through the orchard leading to seats by the lake. It really was a charming day out, especially when paired with a visit to the Courtyard shops and cafe. Highly recommended, and it can only get better as the restoration continues. My only slight reservation would be the lack of room wardens who could have helped us to understand the house better (the Hall seeks additional volunteers), and we did notice that a few of the interpretation boards were a bit confusing or misleading. But these are such minor criticisms that I can't possibly...

Lovely gardens to look around and the hall itself was nice

We went to a VE event We were very disappointed Not a lot to see

The whole visit took no longer that 30 min. We were expecting at least a few hours.

We've been to these events before at other places and there have been stalls galore to browse along. There have also been lots of cakes and old fashioned sweets and foods to look at and buy

A number of other people we spoke to said the same.

Also there was 3 tables / benches in the courtyard. All these poor elderly and disabled had to stand to watch the short bit of entertainment. So people simply didn't stay

The entertainment singers were good and entertaining. We stayed to watch these.

If you have been here before then don't expect much more than what you usually see ie gardens etc.

You will be disappointed like us if you are expecting a great day out.

We arrived at 11.30 and left at 12.30 because we had done everything in that short time

The Hall and Gardens are always beautiful

The event was small and not enough...

Visited on a car show day £8 used rhs to get one in free (House ,car show ,gardens ) Nice selection of new and old cars which pleased other half .The house is very interesting staff are polite and very helpful especially Daniel in the walled garden he seen me reading the sign about the heated walls and stopped to give me a very interesting talk on the walled garden . It is obvious this place would not look like it does today without the help of a lot of people especially volunteers .With lots of help and support it could be even more interesting . Well worth supporting ,by a visit and a parking donation .Very small plant selection on sale (cannot resist a plant to remember my day out and help support places like this .) Nice courtyard with few shops and cafe coffee was good £10 for coffee ,tea and shared a toasted sandwich pleasant music played by man on a piano on lovely...
